6. Leliana vs Varric-Leliana

7. Zevran vs Isabela-Zevran

8. Shale vs the Arishok -The Arishok.

1. Everyone is going to have a different answer for this one but here is my take on it. :D

- Are strong enough to take down high dragons. (this alone ...just...this)
- Are skilled leaders.
- Lead some of the strongest individuals in all of Thedas.
- Are unmatched killing machines (just try to count the bodies till the end of the game I dare you! O_o)

- Fought and defeated corypheus. (Weakened state...I think...not clear how much :/ ).
- Fought and killed the arishok in single combat.
- Survived the battle of Ostagar. (didn't partake if mage).

- Killed the archdemon. (with the help of an army).
- Killed the architect.
- Amassed an army during the blight.

Both the Warden and Hawke are equally badass in my opinion its just that the Warden had more of an opportunity to kick *** during the blight while Hawke had to look out for his family while surviving and making his way in Kirkwall.
If the two of them would fight I really think a good exaple of the fight would be that of Snake vs Liquid in mgs4, long, bloody and very sad for the player :(... unless one is an renegade *** then MURDER THE DASTARD! ... >8I .
But in the end I really think it would be up to the player who would win the battle with dragon age being a rpg after all ^^

That being said my rogue Hawke is so much stronger than my rogue Warden gameplay wise it's not even funny XDDD

Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer/Battlemage Warden Amell

Force Mage/Spirit Healer Hawke

The spiritual warrior templar build will kill the both pretty easly.

1. Warden. I liked warrior Hawke, but really he wouldn't stand a chance against my bloodmage Surana.

2. Aveline. She's more badass than Alistair. Alistair would probably underestimate her because she's a woman and that would be his last mistake.

3. Sten. He is elite Qunari Warrior. Fenris has the lyrium markings but unless he can take Sten by surprise I don't think he is a match for him. On the other hand if someone like Alistair can defeat Sten in a duel... maybe Fenris' chances are not so bad, after all. He is more determined and his anger fuels him.

4. Morrigan. They are both very powerful and probably have somewhat similar training, but I think Morrigan is more cunning and might just have a few more tricks up her sleeve.

5. Anders. No challenge. Justice/Vengeance will crush Wynne's spirit friend and without it she is just old woman who has wasted her gifts dancing to the Chantry's tune.

6. Leliana. She doesn't even have to fight Varric - she could just send her spies to poison his wine. If they did fight one on one she would still beat him. She learned from the best.

7. Isabela. Zevran is too easily distracted...

8. Arishok. Shale is more chaotic and can do lots of damage to her environment, but golems are also clumsy. Arishok is elite warrior with deadly focus and lots of minions.

Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer/Battlemage Warden Amell

Force Mage/Spirit Healer Hawke

If Warden can close into melee, then he would have the edge, but if Hawke can keep him away, then Hawke has the edge.

Sure, Arcane Warrior is the ultimate mage-tank, but Force Mage is the ideal battle-control spell-set.

Both are Spirit Healers, so powerful heals, revives, and restorations on both sides.

Warden has greater skill range, but Hawke has faster attack speed and casting speed.

Hawke has a better staff, but the Warden can carry a sword-n-shield in addition to a staff.

Short version, if Hawke can press his attack and is able use his Force spells, advantage:Hawke.
If the Warden can survive the first 30 seconds relatively undamaged, advantage:Warden.

It would definitely be a long fight, since both my Warden and my Hawke are "built" to be very hard to kill.

Both are geared to being the center of their team, improving the group as a whole while being the last man standing in a worst-case scenario.

1. Hands-down, the Warden would win no matter the build. Hawke calls himself a Champion, but he can't even babysit an island of misfit toys.
2. I'd give it to Alistair, though it'd be a real close match.
3. Much as I'd want to root for Sten, I'd probably have to agree with Fenris taking this one. Though Sten would totally underestimate him at first, then with his dying words he'd say something like "I was wrong, you prove yourself with the strength of an Arishok," and Fenris would just ghost his heart out.
4. How is this even a question? Morrigan would obliterate Merrill.
5. All I can picture is Anders ranting about being an oppressed abomination and Wynne sitting back saying, "That's cute, son," then literally killing him with compassion.
6. Another really interesting match-up. Varric probably has the advantage at range, but if Leliana gets an opportunity to close, he's out.
7. Considering how inept Zevran is at everything, I'd give this to Isabela, though I'd bring her back as she appears in DAO since she was way cooler back then.

I'd also like to see each of these pairings as an epic rap battle. Wynne pulverizing Anders with her fresh rhymes would be quite interesting.

1. Based on my current Heroes my warden Louisa would have kicked Hawke's ***. Assuming she didn't burn it off with a fireball first but I don't think she'd want to kill her own cousin. Yes she was an Arcane Warrior mage. No one got close enoughto hurt her that much as she knwe exactly what spells/abilities to use and when.

2. Not much between them but I'd say Alistair. He's pretty much capable of cutting anyone down to size.

3. close to call but I'd say Fenris just

4. As powerful as both are Morrigan just has that nasty streak that Merrill lacks in this instance so I'd have to back the witch.

5. Wynne definitely she has the discipline Anders lacks. Anders is nothing more than a child playing with powers that he dosen't really deserve tbh.

6. At range Varric no contest. With Bianca on hand he's quite frankly deadly at distance. Leliana on the other hand is a great al rounder and can shoot well at range asnd get up close and personal with enemies which is something Varric can't do so for me combat wise Leliana wins this. Given these 2 are my fave DA characters I'd hope they wouldn't fight though.

7. Another tough one 2 good duelists. But because my current Hawke is romancing Isabella and Zevran is dead in my current playthrough I'll give it to her.

8 definitely Shale if a golem can bring down an darkspawn Ogre single handed what chance does the Arishok have.

"Who would win in a fight - Andraste or Archdemon?" ;)

by sylvanaerie » Sat Jan 30, 2016 11:58 am

1. Good one. Hawke's faster, but the Warden is tougher. The Warden has more varied skills and abilities across every class including having more specialities, but Hawke has enough to match it. Ultimately it comes down to experience and strategy which I'm giving to the Warden. The Warden's accomplishments encompass everything that Hawke has done and much more.

2. Seeing that Alistair was able to match and defeat Stenshok, I don't see any reason why he couldn't beat Aveline.

3. Sten's strong, but Fenris can use his lyrium tattoos to reach into people's hearts and crush them. Even then, Fenris is strong enough to match Sten blow for blow and considerable faster as well.

4. All Merrill has to do is Blood Wound Morrigan in place and it's pretty much over from there.

5. No contest, Wynne is more experienced, more skilled, more mature and much more level-headed. Anders wouldn't have a chance.

6. Tough...Leliana has the advantage up close, but Varric is good at long range. Ultimately, I'd say Varric as he would be quick and agile enough to utilize Bianca at close range and Leliana is a bit rusty from her bard days.

7. They'd end up in bed after a stalemate battle...fight again and then back to bed, rinse and lather until they depart after a "parting" dance. But in all seriousness, Zevran has been fooled by pretty face in the past and Isabella doesn't exactly play nice when all things come down to the wire.

8. The Arishok is strong, but Shale can pick up boulders and throw them with one hand. She can also punch the ground hard enough to emulate an earthquake. If Shale can pick up boulders as large as she is with one hand, think of what she'll do with the Arishok! Exactly what she does to birds.

LOL this is SO Zevran (unromanced) and Isabela.  Not to mention, her bosom isn't magical but it is epic.  Serious distraction factor there.

As for OP, Shadowlord answered what I think/feel quite nicely already, so...ditto, with one exception.  Both warden and Hawke are PC's.  How they do their different professions varies from warden to warden and Hawke to Hawke.  So, to be safe, I'd call that fight a stalemate.

And my Kit Hawke would offer my Neria Surana a drink at the Gnawed Noble after to relax and listen to Varric and Leliana spin some tales, because no hard feelings. ;)
