I don't think I'll miss it much, besides PvP which I can get through other sources.

lack of builds and customization make it a one time ride kind of thing. i'm open to being proven wrong, it just seems like a really stylized 3 year project not intended to be a big "thing" like souls was.

There are 3 "trees" that effect how you play. IIRC you can eventually unlock everything. But I don't think that's doable in a single playthrough. It's a very action oriented game. Like the DMC series. But you can approach things in so many different ways kinda like the dishonored series. And they did basically confirm something similar to a world state that's tied to your death counter. (unsure if there are other ways to effect it.)

To me Sekiro is a happy middle between "build your character" type games and "in it for the plot" one and done games. I'd look more into it if you haven't been staying on top of all the info.

Yeah there's enough in Sekiro to make me really want it. It's like a Zelda game with lots of different equipment and ways to complete areas and Dark Souls difficulty.

Plus the world tendency thing is interesting, as I missed out on Demon Souls.

Tomorrow will be a long day at work. Picking up a copy of Sekiro (because I like physical copies of games) and won't be able to play it until I get home and load up around 8pm.

Only had about 2 hours to play last night, but I died in the tutorial level learning how to deflect attacks on the first 2 health bar enemy. Then explored and got to the hub Temple, found the shuriken attachment and messed around with the undead practice guy in the hub.

Really enjoyed it so far, trying to stay busy at work today to keep my mind off it! It's worse than when I was younger and got a new game and had to sit at school all day!

I think i'm a fair way in now. I'm at my third major boss. The beginning hump of the game doesn't feel great. But if you can get past it I feel like the game comes into itself very well.

That seems about how Bloodborne went for me, honestly. With Bloodborne, the game didn't really click until I had managed to beat the Cleric Beast and Father G, solo (because summoning wasn't working yet!). That took a good 10 hours or so, of beating my head against a wall of enemies and learning timings and stuff.

In Sekiro, I haven't even fought the first 2 health bar enemy lol. I was close to a skill point, so I decided to get that, then got the shinobi esoteric text, got another skill point and unlocked the blade-stomp skill and practiced with Hanbei for a bit.

After today, though, I've got a full day of nothing planned, so I'm gonna sit down and enjoy some quality time!

I'm like 90% sure i'm in the end portion of the game now. I made a lot of headway today.
The game clicked for me today. I've been steam rolling bosses in 5 tries or less.
