I’ve only ever messed with Clever Bot. Briefly, over a few months, a few years back. I found it oddly relaxing aside from when it just gets random.
Sometimes it really showed how it was just a algorithm program that collected data in order to reuse it. Other times, it was almost like getting to know a real person.

You’re the tech guy around here, so I’m kind of curious how you feel about Clever Bot in terms of efficiency, and if you know of any similar programs that are more advanced.

classical chatbots are very "engineered" more useful for demonstrating the quirks of human perception than real technological progression. that being said, the home devices are exploring breakthroughs in speech recognition and synthesis while using elements of chatbot logic to interact with the human users so i suppose they have their use as a holding technique for market products. one of the proposed uses of the alphastars architecture is bringing ai advances to conversation planning so i guess i'll wait and see which way the wind blows in the next couple years.

Chatbots can became quite "human" if they will use AI combined with specific information about the humans they "converse" with, like facial expression, emotional state (through video camera), voice tone (through microphone). They can became better than a human therapist, given enough processing power and specific user info. Technically is already possible. Ethically, it`s another matter.

I was worried as you vanished rather suddenly and had been hoping it was nothing serious. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better! <3

seems like anthem shall be a still born. there goes bioware. can't say i blame EA for this one; the game definitely seems to be less than the sum of its parts. hopefully when the studio inevitably gets broken up splinter studios shall make their own games that have actual direction.

I heard several people saying it was fun. I have t tried it because it looks like destiny, too much of a shooter. What did you think

There's not really an endgame, the few dungeons they have are basically "go here, kill this, interact with this, defend this" and "rehash a story mission but not put level requirements on it".

Every review I've seen says the same things. Combat is fun, looks great, but there's loading screens on top of loading screens, little to no story and it's monetized in the worst possible way. No reason to get new gear, because it all looks the same, just different colors.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, take all the bad, stupid decisions Bungie made with Destiny 1 and 2, take away any redeeming features and call it a new game.

Suppose the Bioware employees that worked on Mass Effect: Andromeda are happy to know they're no longer responsible for creating the worst major Bioware game (at least according to Metacritic)?

Looking at all the Bioware PC games on Metacritic we have:

Baldur's Gate (1998): 91
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (2000): 95
Neverwinter Nights (2002): 91
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003): 93
Jade Empire: Special Edition (2007): 81 (original 2005 Xbox exclusive scored 89)
Mass Effect (2008): 89
Dragon Age: Origins (2009): 91
Mass Effect 2 (2010): 94
Dragon Age 2 (2011): 82
Star Wars: The Old Republic (2011): 85
Mass Effect 3 (2012): 89
Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014). 95
Mass Effect: Andromeda (2017): 72
Anthem (2019): 61

Before ME:A they never even had a game in the 70s, now they're competing with Crackdown 3 for the worst AAA game of 2019 so far. Bear in mind these reviews are mostly from left-leaning "game journalists" who are more likely to give Bioware bonus points for their recent interjection of politics rather than find them somewhere between annoying and insulting, as I do, and who mostly overlook the horrible microtransactions infesting modern games (including Anthem from day 1).

Edit: oops, accidentally wrote "85" instead of (the now corrected) "95" for KOTOR. If you average the 12 games prior to ME:A you get a remarkable 89.67 (or, if you use the original Jade Empire score, 90.33). That's remarkably consistent quality for so many games over almost 2 decades, with a 92 average during their BG2-ME2 golden decade. It's hard to imagine the same team putting out a game like Anthem in the state it's in, but of course it's not the same team, and EA is firmly in charge.

Personally I'm very interested to see what the second and later week sales will be like. The preorders and first week sales will be largely dictated by marketing like the bullshot E3 trailer and selective "demo". It's only starting in the second week where word-of-mouth, reviews and (nowadays) gamestreams watched really have an effect.

Inquisition does not deserve a 85. It's not even close to mass effect 3.
That being said i wonder what their employee turnover rate has been over the years.
