I've been playing dragons dogma dark arisen on pc and i think it is a near perfect game by my standards. there are so many oddities to its design that go against convention or even good sense; large npc questlines are hard to find if one doesn't look for them and bare few tangible rewards, the main narrative is emotionally dry but thought provoking and only makes sense once one beats the game, there are more voice actors than in skyrim but far fewer npcs the vast majority of whom only have interaction with the player through flavor text determined by the players active sidequest and the state of the main questline, the second half of the content was stapled on in an expansion and barely has any connection to the rest of the game. the whole thing seems near tailor made to my sensibilities and i fear that it will be some time before another game can match it in my view.
i suppose the bright side is that the march of technology will at leas aid production of games with this design with cheap sophisticated game engines and near free speech synthesis allowing for large numbers of npcs with unique voices.
dragons dogma 2 after devil may cry 5 yes capcom?
