I'm very much ready for this home-buying process to be over with. The only thing holding up closing is a VA appraisal, which involved having to install eaves on the house (because apparently there weren't any on half the house) filling a hole (easy), fixing a window (also easy) and getting a structural engineer to examine the foundation.

Seller paid for the engineer, nothing wrong there. Did the eaves, filled the hole, covered the window with plexiglass. Good right? Nope.

Got to go out tomorrow and install another 80 feet of eaves, also had to take the plexiglass out of the window and put it in the frame (easy). Ugh. Just wanna move in already.

Good news is, we got a bunch of nice furniture from the seller.

We had a loan like that. Had to paint the shed because it was chipping. Delayed the same about a month

Ugh yeah. The VA is really strict, which is what I expected. But still, it's a little ridiculous. I'm not looking forward to one particular section of eaves. It's up on the second story, above the deck, about 25-30 feet off the ground.

Not hiring someone to do it, because that's expensive.

my new apartment has room for 4 tenets but i'm the only one here this semester so i get more room and isolation than a single person apartment at a third of the price.

Wow that's nice. I always liked not having a roommate in the Marines. Or a good roommate what doesn't screw you over for field days (weekly cleaning days).

Hopefully I'll be closing on my house this week. Then I've got 6 days to move everything, because I don't want to pay the next month's rent.

i have about 20 pounds worth of stuff. i dislike furniture and just use two blankets instead of a bed. could be more difficult for households though.

Oh yeah it's gonna be great fun to move my house. 4 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, laundry and the garage. All in (possibly) 6 days, 3 of which I will be working.

Whew. Last time I moved, all my stuff fit in the bed of my truck.
