It's not that people don't know about the corruption. IT's that it's so bad and the system so rigged, there's precisely nothing most people can do except vote and tell people about a particular candidate they like. We don't have refferendums. Primary elections that are important get rigged, either directly or by the simple fact that the biggest sellout gets the most money and makes their message heard the loudest.

Like 70 or 80% of americans already know the money in the system is the problem and want it gone. But the system is so bad, even with overwhelming support to do something about it, the corperatists can legally rig the primaries because "they're a private organization" to prevent non corperatists getting significant influence, get elected despite everybody knowing they're not going to do anything anyone who isn't rich actually wants them to do, and then perpetuate the cycle. It's going to take a minor miracle and/or the effective (if not necessarily total or unrecoverable) collapse of one or both of the parties to even give people a way to deal with the corruption they already know is there.

Looking at what is going on with both the Republican and Democrat parties right now gives a little credence to the "collapse" you are talking about, Forum. There's parts of both parties that are committed to the Trump or Hillary side (both of which are terrible) and everyone else is content to push those fringe elements away and move towards a better candidate.

Look at the recent elections for governors, a lot of those went to Democrats, but they aren't the Democrats that supported Hillary. They are closer in ideology to Bernie Sanders, but not as "socialist". They seem to be much more moderate, drawing in both Republicans and Democrats who are fed up with the system.

So I'm looking through my word documents on my flash drives. I found a lost collection of jokes I copied off a joke website that I enjoyed. Looking through them, I found some political ones:

A teacher was teaching her second grade class about the government, so for homework that one day, she told her students to ask their parents what the government is. When Little Johnny got home that day, he went up to his dad and asked him what the government was. His dad thought for a while and answered,

"Look at it this way: I'm the president, your mom is Congress, your maid is the work force, you are the people and your baby brother is the future."

"I still don't get it" responded the Little Johnny.

"Why don't you sleep on it then? Maybe you'll understand it better," said the dad.

"Okay then...good night" said Little Jonney went off to bed.

In the middle of the night, Little Johnny was awakened by his baby brother's crying. He went to his baby brother's crib and found that his baby brother had taken a crap in his diaper. So Little Johnny went to his parent's room to get help. When he got to his parent's bedroom, he looked through the keyhole to check if his parents were asleep. Through the keyhole he saw his mom loudly snoring, but his dad wasn't there. So he went to the maid's room. When he looked through the maid's room keyhole, he saw his dad having sex with his maid. Little Johnny was surprised, but then he just realized something and thinks aloud, "OH!! Now I understand the government! The President is screwing the work force, Congress is fast asleep, nobody cares about the people, and the future is full of ****!"

The FBI, the CIA and the LAPD all think they are the most efficient law enforcers, so they decide to have a contest. They release a squirrel into a forest and they all get a chance to catch it.

The CIA bugs the entire forest and gets animal informants. They then question all of the plants and mineral witnesses. But after four months, they conclude that the rabbit never existed.

Next the FBI comes in. After a couple of weeks they still have no leads so they burn the entire forest down killing everything, supposedly including the rabbit.

Finally, the LAPD comes in and comes out a week later with a bear. The bear is yelling, "Okay! I'm a rabbit! I'm a rabbit!"

A thief walks up to a man, pulls out a knife, and says "Give me all of your money."

The man, surprised, says "You can't rob me, I'm a congressman!"

The thief responds "In that case, give me my money!"

I wasn't suggesting it's happening or going to happen. I was suggesting that may be what's going to be required. Because as long as so called "moderates" are taking hundreds of thousands of corperate dollars, that's who they're going to serve, so the corrpution will continue.

Most of them are only "closer" to the ideology of Bernie Sanders than Hillary Clinton in the sense that anybody who's not typical republican or religious right is almost automatically closer to the ideology of Bernie Sanders.

I honestly believe that the only feasible way to address campaign finance corruption, at this stage, is through a constitutional convention. Our congresspeople are bought and the Supreme Court caused this problem in the first place, so you've got to go over their heads to fix it.
