Square Enix revealed in their Uncovered event for Final Fantasy XV a release date of September 30th, 2016 on PS4 and Xbox One. We now have a concrete date to expect this game, which has been in development for a decade, originally as FF Versus XIII.
During the event, a 90 USD and 270 USD collector’s editions were revealed with collectibles of increasing value to tempt long time fans of the series. The Ultimate Edition will only have 30,000 available worldwide.

If that’s not enough, Square had a few more surprises for fans of the game:
- Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV was announced which is a 5 part anime series telling the backstory of all of the friends — the announcement trailer and episode 1 are available to watch here.
- Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy will be a fully CG movie in anticipation of the game.
- Justice Monsters Five, a brand new mobile game
- Platinum Demo — Final Fantasy XV was shown. Set in a whimsical dreamscape, you play as a child Noctis traversing the world with your new pal, Carbuncle.

This was a release date announcement with a bang, and should come as no surprise from the larger than life spectacle of the Final Fantasy series. During the event, several more videos of gameplay gave fans an opportunity to see more of what FFXV has in store for gamers this fall.
The long wait is now down to 6 months. Excited? Hyped? Discuss in the comments and keep checking back with us for more!

Expected a little bit more from the free demo, but looks good so far, just very confusing teleport mechanics
Also I went around collecting every single yellow thing, thinking it would help and it didn’t do anything…
the combat is not bad, but I’m a bit sad that they removed the auto changing weapon combos. The little hammer was so powerful it wasn’t even worth it to use the sword, but the boss fight was much better. Wish they gave you a couple more enemies in his “adult” form to practice.
the spell targeting system is terrible though, or at least I suck at it.
I played the demo last night. It was all right. Very pretty looking, but I didn’t like the combat much. Once I could teleport during the boss fight it got a little more fun, but he had so much HP that it dragged on a little too much. I was super pissed when I accidentally respawned him before finishing the demo.
I also could not seem to avoid any attacks by roll-dodging. Teleporting always seemed to be a better option.
I liked the panel that transformed you into weird animals.
Haven’t touched a FF game in a long time. I know next to nothing about this game. But played the demo and I was surprised. My main turn off from previous titles was the live combat on top of the paradim system. too much for me to do at once.
The combat in this game is very simplistic and feels like a flashier souls style combat. Safe to say i’ll probably be picking this up if I have the money when it drops.
My problem with Florence and the Machine is the propensity for shouted, overly dramatic vocals. I guess it works for an arena setting.
I feel very confused.
Not about the game. I usually hate florence and the machine and her slidy, whiny vocals- but she absolutely nailed the stand by me cover.
I think people made a big thing out of it because it made them hopeful that he’d (maybe) collaborate with SE on a future game. Considering how many people loved Lost Odyssey & have decried recent FFs, even I wish they’d get together again!!!
Hironobu Sakaguchi’s appearance was the highlight although not a big of a surprise or deal as people made it out to be.
A surprisingly good showing all around. Confirmed a lot of rumours too. Good stuff.
