Final Fantasy XV New Update Allows Character Switching!

Square Enix has recently released the latest 1.19 and 1.20 updates for their Final Fantasy XV  action-RPG. The promised December patch enables players to swap between the characters Prompto, Gladiolus, Ignis and Noctis during combat.

Furthermore, the update bolsters the game’s soundtrack with music from the “Comrades” and “Episode Ignis” DLCs. And introduces bug fixes and improved compatibility with the upcoming Episode Ignis add-on as well. Updates 1.19 and 1.20 are now available for download.

  • Implementation of character swap feature (available in Ascension: Techniques)
  • Conclusion of online support for Timed Quests
  • Commencement of daily Timed Quests
  • Addition of compatibility with EPISODE IGNIS
  • Addition of pieces from MULTIPLAYER EXPANSION: COMRADES and EPISODE IGNIS to music player tracklist
  • Various bug fixes

Version 1.20:

  • Various bug fixes

Comrades 1.1.0:

  • Additional trading post (behind Iris)
  • Additional weapon (Lucian Saber)
  • Shorter loading times
  • Daily Quests (Online only)
  • Buffs are now timed
  • The Food Buff glitch no longer works. Furthermore, food buffs on characters made with the glitch will eventually expire.

Final Fantasy XV  is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While FFXV: Windows Edition  is coming to PC via Steam in early 2018 and you can check out its 4K screenshots.


In other FFXV  news, Yoko Taro, the director of the smash hit Nier: Automata  action-RPG, may work on the next Final Fantasy  installment.

And the game’s multiplayer expansion “Comrades“, is now live. Also, don’t forget to join the limited timed-DLC event, “Assassin’s Festival” that runs up until January 31st, 2018.

  1. Yoko Taro working on FF is a big news of its own, dunno how this lone wolf would work in way bigger team now. How his crazy ideas would be discussed and implemented in a bigger game than anything he worked on before!

  2. I remember before the game came out, when it was shown that only Noctis would be playable in combat, but that each of the others would get their own DLC, thinking that eventually you would be able to switch between them once all the DLC came out.

    Thankfully I waited before buying the game. Heck, I’m still waiting, but I’ll probably pick FFXV up when there’s a good Steam sale price.
