5. Hollow Knight: Silksong

Release Date: 2020
Platform: PC/Nintendo Switch
Developer: Team Cherry
Publisher: Team Cherry

The sequel to the acclaimed Hollow Knight, Silksong follows the adventures of a new character, the Hornet as she prevails through a new kingdom of Pharloom with similar mapping abilities to Hollow Knight. An interesting addition is the use of a death mechanic, as with Hollow Knight, the Hornet can die but will also leave a cocoon behind. The cocoon contains a full amount of silk which can be used at an opportune moment.

Healing for the Hornet involves using the silk that she accrues from killing enemies, using Bind to wrap around injuries and help return her to a healthier state. She is also super speedy compared to the Knight when she heals and she can do it in mid-air. But there is balance with this increased rate of healing, using healing powers will consume her entire spool of silk, and if she gets hit while trying heal, the silk will be depleted and the heal rendered useless.

Hollow Knight Silksong will launch on Windows, Mac, Linux and Nintendo Switch, with more platforms possible in the future. Expected to release date in 2020.

1. Elden Ring

Release Date: 2020

The most elusive title on our list also takes our top spot. Elden Ring hasn’t even had any gameplay shown yet, but is already been one of the most anticipated titles ever since it’s announcement earlier this year and sets to be FromSoftware’s biggest title yet. Combining two well-known figures, one synonymous with Dark Souls, Hidetaka Miyazaki, and the other, a writer who has taken the world of fantasy to another level, the author of Song of Fire and Ice/Game of Thrones, G.R.R. Martin.
