Fallout 76 Will Not Be Coming to Steam on Launch Day

Bethesda release an updated version of the Fallout 76 beta notes on the FAQ page which now shares that Fallout 76 will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC (via Bethesda.net).

Fallout 76 Will Not Be Coming to Steam at Launch

Confirmation that Fallout 76 will not be joining Steam on launch day was given when PC Gamer contacted Bethesda. The response was:

…the PC version of Fallout 76, for both the B.E.T.A. and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam.

While we get confirmation that the title will not be joining Steam, the reason why is unclear. Choosing their own platform rather than a third party could be to give more control over their choices when it comes how they make revenue. Although this establishes that it will not be on Steam at launch, it does not disregard it coming to the platform later on.

Bethesda have already confirmed earlier this week that Fallout 76 would be releasing the full game at B.E.T.A.

Fallout 76 will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14th, 2018 while B.E.T.A will launch in October 2018. Pre-orders are already available via Amazon, those who pre-order will have access to the B.E.T.A..
