Fallout 5 Confirmed as Next Game After Elder Scrolls 6

With the release of Starfield next year, fans may be wondering what’s next for Bethesda Games Studios. While we do know the Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production, Todd Howard has confirmed recently that Fallout 5 is coming after.

Howard spoke with IGN and confirmed that after ES6, Fallout 5 would be the next project on the agenda.

Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.

While Howard didn’t go into detail on a timeframe for Fallout 5, he did share that in terms of what they wanted to do they already have “one-pager”. The Fallout franchise is “part of our DNA” he expressed, meaning this will be a major game and he wished he could get the game “out faster”. It could be some time before we hear more on the game as Starfield went into production in late 2015, now 7 years on, the game will finally launch.

Starfield sets to release first in early 2023. Elder Scrolls 6 followed by Fallout 5, no timeframe announced.

Fallout 4 released back in 2015, which was followed up by the most recent entry Fallout 76, which has a focus on the multiplayer aspect which was not exactly well-received by all. Fallout 76 has received a slew of updates, events and expansion since then.

As for Elder Scrolls 6, it was announced back in 2018, with a very short teaser confirming its actual existence. However, it’s full steam ahead for Starfield, which was delayed to the first half of 2023. Recently Bethesda had a deep dive into Starfield gameplay which looks to focus on gun combat and will have a thousand planets to encounter.

Starfield has already been confirmed to be a console exclusive for Xbox Series X|S and also coming to PC. Elder Scroll 6 also looks to be going in the same direction, as Xbox head Phil Spencer has commented in the past about Xbox exclusivity, so the same may go for Fallout 5.
