ESA Confirms E3 2023 Will Be an In-Person Event

The ESA have announced that E3 2023 will be going ahead next year during its usual time frame of June. The event will be partnering with ReedPop, a veteran event production company which is responsible for PAX, New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration and more.

E3 2023 will host publishers, developers, journalists, content creators as more in its digital showcase and in-person event. This will mark the return of a physical event with “in-person consumer components”. as well as digital showcases which became much more prevalent in 2020 and 2021. This year’s E3 ended up being cancelled, with no digital event in sight, but it looks like the gaming conference is making its return full steam ahead next year.

So far no exact dates have been announced but it will be interesting to see what will happen in June as this year’s Summer Game Fest seemed to take over the usual slot and will return next year. This year we got some reveals and updates for games such as Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Starfield gameplay as well as Silksong.

Previously the ESA has announced they wanted to shake up E3 with an “all-new format“. Whether they will be able to “reinvigorate” the event as planned is yet to be seen. Major publishers like Sony have now opted for their own digital events, and EA having their own off-site event. It will be interesting to see how the ESA plans to reshape the event with other alternatives such as Summer Game Fest gaining traction.
