The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim PlayStation VR Bundle Announced!

A new PlayStation VR bundle was just announced today and it features Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR – PSVR Bundle

The upcoming bundle is priced at $449.99 USD / $579.99 CAD and comes with the newer CUH-ZVR2 PlayStation VR model as well as:

  • A PlayStation Camera
  • A pair of PlayStation Move Controllers
  • A copy of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
  • The new PlayStation VR Demo Disc (featuring 13 PSVR demos)

Skyrim VR  will also include the “Dawnguard”, “Hearthfire” and “DragonbornDLCs.

  1. I would actually very much like a Elder Scrolls Arena & Daggerfall remake. Same story and themes, but less clunky mechanics. Doesn’t need to be stunning graphics-wise either. if it looks as good as Morrowind vanilla, I’d be happy.

    Ah, but don’t you want to see the exciting conclusion again and again? And again? And again?

    I wouldn’t mind a Daggerfall remake, if only so I can actually play it instead of hearing about it. You know, if we’re being limited to remakes and all.

    Anyways, if they’re looking to test concepts on VR to see what kind of market it could work for, Skyrim is probably the ideal experiment: they already know the product is successful on its own merits, so it would let them see what, if anything, VR adds to the experience, or detracts from it, not to mention the game has all the traits that VR would theoretically be best for (first-person open world RPG, player-driven experience, emergent gameplay). If Skyrim VR succeeds, Sony then has a clearer idea on where to focus for VR. If it fails, they’ll know they won’t be getting what they expected out of VR, and might quietly drop it somewhere down the line.

    Even if I can’t afford the total cost, this looks like something to keep track of, see how it goes down.

    This is what kills VR for me, and a lot of others. Plus, I’ve played the hell out of Skyrim, and don’t think I’d get enough value out of it. I’d rather see something new and exciting, than old and redone.

  5. I always figured The Elder Scrolls would make for an ideal VR series, just by how its mechanics work. A VR game would need to account for increased player agency, and TES is built around the player being able to do just about anything they want.

    Of course, I can’t afford to drop another $500-ish for what is effectively a second console…
