Have you heard a lot of praise about the subscription free MMO, Elder Scrolls Online? Thinking about making a purchase but on the fence if it’s worth the price? If you’re on PC and Xbox One, the Elder Scrolls Online’s official website announced that for the first time ever, this weekend you’ll have an opportunity to try the game for free beginning this Thursday, December 10th at 3 AM until Monday, December 14th at 3 AM. So it’s actually an extended weekend offering! PS4 owners will not be able to participate in this free weekend, but ESO is working with Sony on a technical solution to bring this event to players at a future date.
Xbox One ESO Free Weekend Details
You can begin downloading the game through Xbox Live at 3 AM. If you opt to buy the game during the weekend, you will save 60% on the game and all your progress from the weekend will carry over. In addition, you’ll be entered to win $1 million (USD) from the ESO Sweepstakes.
Everyone will be able to purchase crowns through Xbox Live at a discounted rate during the Free Play Weekend:
- 1,500 crown packs will be 25% off
- 3,000 crown packs will be 33% off
- 5,500 crown packs will be 40% off
PC ESO Free Weekend Details
Beginning right now, you can start downloading the game so you’re ready to join in with friends this Thursday at 3am EST. Prior to downloading, you’ll need a Free Play Weekend code which you can find across various websites, or from a friend currently playing. Once you obtain a code:
- Create a game account at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com
- Activate your account by clicking the link in the activation email sent to you.
- Return to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com and sign in with your new account.
- On your account page, click “Redeem Code.” Enter your code in the popup box that appears.
- Once your code has been successfully redeemed, a download link will appear on your account page. Download the game and you’ll be ready to play!
The rest of the details such as the discounts and crown store pricing is the same as for Xbox One.
