Dragon’s Dogma Online is Official

Dragon’s Dogma Online official announcement has been leaked, with a lenghty 18 page article appearing on this week’s Famitsu, coming out on the 29th of February

The article promises to reveal details of the new world from a special interview, revealing screenshots of multiplayer fights against dragons and featuring a minimalist UI for the development prototype.

Details on the Game from Otakumu:

  • Game Model: Free to play with Microtransactions
  • Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, and PC
  • World: Lestaria, Open World. 8 Player dungeons and Seasonal Events available.
  • Player Character: “Awakened” / “Arisen”
  • Player Jobs/Classes: Fighter, Hunter, Priest, and Shield Sage
  • Crafting: Yes, for both AI and Player Character
  • Multiplayer: Party of AI party of up to 4 NPCs. Massive lobbies of up to 100 players. (Possibly similar to Guild Wars 1 or Path of Exile), with Quickmatch finding available.

YES!! All aboard the hype train! I’ve been waiting for another Dragon’s Dogma to come for a long time! The only thing that worries me is the game model: "Free to play with microtransactions." Hopefully they don’t get out of hand with them. Still, another Dragon’s Dogma!

Thats some excellent news! Wow, this is such a superb year for RPGs; I so far cannot keep up, and it is only going to get worse :nail biting:

I hope that they intend to use the same combat mechanics, I would not be interested if they traded the tight active controls for the conventional mmorpg cooldown queue (or however it is termed).

But I am glad they decided to keep this title alive, and answered the fans need for multiplayer

    I really like that UI.

I should be worried about microtransactions but I’m too excited to put a concerted amount of effort into writing something about it.

Is this still slated as a Japanese-only release?

They’ve trademarked the title in the US and UK. But officially Capcom have stated that there are no plans. At best it’ll be a delayed released and at worst it’ll be another Monster Hunter Online or Phantasy Star Online 2.

Also it is Capcom. There is no logic and reason behind what they do. On another note Deep Down is starting to look like vaporware.

I guess if it’s delayed, that wouldn’t be so bad. Bloodborne, DkS2SOTFS, and ESO should provide more than enough mileage until the end of summer.
