Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Is The Most-Played Fighting Game on Steam

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is already available on its platforms, but it has made waves on Steam as the most-played fighting game; and this is before it’s available to everyone.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Is The Top Fighting Game on Steam

October is Halloween, and itโ€™s also a month filled with fear on PC, Steam Deck, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Switch, considering all its releases like Silent Hill 2 or Metaphor; however, Valve has seen another game stand out: Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

It seems that Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft’s new game is excelling on Gabe Newellโ€™s platform with over 90,000 concurrent users and 36,985 players right now.

And this is without taking into account a small, light, and curious detail: the upcoming Dragon Ball game is set to release on October 11, 2024, and these numbers reflect those who have paid for Early Access.

This alone has been enough to surpass any other release in the fighting genre on Valveโ€™s platform, with numbers unprecedented compared to those seen before.

If we look at the less discreet numbers, we should consider games like Soul Calibur VI, which had 14,684 players at the same time, or Guilty Gear Strive with 31,156 players.

Thereโ€™s a significant difference between these figures, which narrows when we consider Brawlhalla with 34,816 or if we note that NetherRealm Studios achieved a maximum of 38,129 players in Mortal Kombat 1.

We need to look a little higher to see one of its siblings, as Dragon Ball FighterZ achieved up to 44,303 players simultaneously at its launch nearly 7 years ago.

This is when we dive into the historical top 3, starting with another Bandai Namco title released this year: Tekken 8 had 49,977 maximum users nine months ago.

The only game that could rival it was Capcomโ€™s Street Fighter 6, but we can already see that the 70,573 concurrent players it had at its peak couldnโ€™t match this game.

It Has Not Been Officially Released Yet

โ€œThe Dragon Ball experience reaches a new level with this game. Spectacular on the surface and deep when we delve into it, it represents a dream come true for fans,โ€ we mentioned in our analysis of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

Again, we must emphasize that the full game releases on October 11, and these are only the numbers of users who have paid for the more expensive editions to play three days earlier.

Therefore, considering that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero bursts onto Steam as the most-played fighting game in Early Access.
