Dragon Age: The Veilguard Does Not Require Playing the Previous Games

Dragon Age: The Veilguard doesn’t require you to have played the previous titles in the series to enjoy it, but BioWare makes it clear that references to them will be very present throughout the adventure.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Will Be Friendly To New Users

The new game of the saga launches on October 31 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is one of the most anticipated releases of the second half of the year and marks the return of a legendary saga after 10 years of waiting.

BioWare is making a comeback, but due to that long gap, the company also wants new players to approach Dragon Age: The Veilguard in a friendly way. It won’t be necessary to have played the previous games in the series.

However, having played Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, and Dragon Age: Inquisition will offer rewards for veteran players. One of the main writers of this new installment has made that clear.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Is For Everyone

Trick Weekes, one of the lead writers of The Veilguard, mentioned (via The Gamer) to fans that we will find “things that will reward returning players who remember the story.” Therefore, we can expect easter eggs and references throughout the narrative.

However, they emphasize that there’s no problem if you’re unfamiliar with the series so far. “You can come into the game without ever having played a Dragon Age game (or without being involved with any related elements) and have no issues,” Weekes noted.

“There are things that reward returning players who remember the story, but like Dragon Age: Inquisition, it’s designed to be welcoming to new players.”

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will fulfill a promise we’ve been waiting nearly 10 years for since Inquisition. Remember, the game will be available on October 31 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
