BioWare is giving Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLCs for free as they remove BioWare Points.

Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLC Now Free as EA Says Goodbye to BioWare Points

Dragon Age and Mass Effect fans can gain free DLCs for the games. This includes Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age Origins. This does not include the first Mass Effect game, Mass Effect Andromeda or Dragon Age Inquisition.

You might wonder why the DLCs are now being given away for free, and that’s because EA are doing away with BioWare Points according to recent emails.

BioWare has been contacting players letting them know as of October 11th, 2022 the Origin Store will no longer be accepting BioWare Points. Other currencies such as Crystals and Platinum are not affected. BioWare sent out a statement via email which was shared on Reddit:

We’re reaching out to let you know that starting October 11, 2022, BioWare Points will no longer be available as a form of currency in the Origin store. To support you through this change, most DLC (downloadable content) that was previously only purchasable with BioWare Points are now available free of charge. This includes DLC for the following titles: Dragon Age II, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, [and] ii (except Multiplayer Packs).

For the next 90 days, you can use your BioWare Points to purchase Multiplayer Packs for Mass Effect 3. After October 11, 2022, Multiplayer Packs will only be redeemable using Credits you’ve earned in-game. Don’t worry – you’ll still have access to any content previously purchased using BioWare Points.

This means you can still use your BioWare Points up until the cut-off date and any previous content purchase with points will still be accessible in your account. So make use of your points while you can and also grab those DLCs if they’ve been previously missing from your collection.

What’s Next for BioWare

It was last year when EA bundled together all the Mass Effect games in one neat remastered package in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. However, if you previously owned them separately and didn’t gain the DLC, this might be a great way to pick them up.

In case you missed it, BioWare has already named their next major title which is Dragon Age Dreadwolf which has received only its official name and logo. There have been teased with game artwork, divulging some interesting details. As for Mass Effect, the next tile is underway but not official title has been shared as of yet. So far there’s been snippets of teaser images and a brief trailer.

Another animated Netflix series is also coming this December 2022 called Dragon Age Absolution which was announced during Netflix’s GeekedWeek.
