Divinity: Original Sin 2 Reaches Final Kickstarter Goal

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Reaches Final Kickstarter Goal

Over 2 million dollars. That’s the number that Divinity: Original Sin 2 developer Larian Studios has raised in their 35 day Kickstarter campaign which we have been keeping tabs on over the past few weeks. In a resounding success of crowdfunding, the indie developer has met every initial and stretch goal for the upcoming sequel to Divinity: Original Sin. Here’s their gratifyingly stamped checklist:

Divinity Goals

The big push here was towards the Game Master mode, which similar to Sword Coast Legends gives players the opportunity to custom edit dungeons and control them on the fly as others are playing. Along the way, fans unlocked other goodies like full mod support (always a good thing), deeper romance and rivalry options, a mask that allows players to change into all manner of things, and they also managed to land beloved fantasy game writer Chris Avellone who will now pen at least one of the origin stories.

In addition to securing copies of the game at a great deal, backers were able to reserve all manner of special loot, such as art books, hoodies and cloth maps, providing a strong sense of value for the fans. It’s evident the model worked as people came out in full force to support the franchise. Updates, incentives and livestreams along the way helped keep the enthusiasm up and brought Larian and the community close together. Now they begin their push to complete the game and have promised a similar level of community involvement every step of the way.

Kudos to indie success and we’ll keep providing updates as the game near’s completion, and don’t forget the Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition which comes out later this month on PS4, Xbox One and PC featuring controller support, local co-op with split screen, fully voiced characters, a totally reworked story with a brand new ending, and more.
