Developer ZA/UM has launched new hardcore mode for their quirky open-world detective RPG, Disco Elysium.
Disco Elysium’s Launches New Hardcore Mode
ZA/UM’s detective RPG Disco Elysium got quite the spotlight last year, not only with us, but also picking up awards for best narrative, and most recently best indie at The New York Video Game Awards. The developer has now launched Hardcore Mode and it’s not for the faint of heart.
Hardcore Mode introduces a number of changes that makes your life that more difficult in the city district of Martinaise. This includes upping the challenge to complete Checks, meaning a higher chance to fail, and coming across money less likely. Adding more to your plate is affording things, pharmaceutical costs have risen and how well they heal are greatly reduced, meaning you may have to look to more unhealthy habits like booze and cigarettes to offset the negative effects, to keep your courage at a better state.
However it’s not all doom and gloom, as you might find that you may go down a path you wouldn’t have originally tried. You’ll have to think more critically and more wisely with the choices you make. You will level faster and higher than before, if only a bit.
Disco Elysium’s Hardcore Mode releases today with the latest PC update, and brings support for ultrawide mode for monitors. If you haven’t already picked up this fantastic game you can now get 20% off on Steam.
