Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4 will be heading to the Steam platform. Details about changes coming in Season 2 note five endgame bosses, changes in endgame activities, improved mounts and more.
Diablo 4 is Heading to Steam Plus Season 2 Changes
The ARPG Diablo 4 will be heading to Steam on October 17th. The news was announced during the developer livestream where Blizzard outlined some changes for Season 2. The Steam listing is already up and you can now wishlist the game on the platform.
Diablo 4 arriving on Steam on October 17th is no coincidence, as the game will head into Season 2 titled “Season of Blood”. As the name suggests it will be a vampiric-themed update which Blizz has already shared in previous posts. Players will be gaining new Vampiric Powers and will also get to face five new endgame bosses and a new quest line. Also explained are how to gain new Unique Items and Uber Uniques.
Steam will have both cross-progression and cross-platform support. But you will still need a Battle.net account in order to access the game. This also means Diablo 4 will be playable on the Steam Deck but no specifics on what level of support it will receive. You will be able to earn Steam achievements while playing the game.
Welcome to the New Endgame
The dev stream also went over some additions and updates for Season of Blood. Diablo 4 will be getting some improvements including quality of life features such as moving The Purveyor of Curiosities in the capital cities so you will have less walking back and forth. Stash will also appear in smaller towns, so no need to travel to the capital cities to drop off your loot.
Five Endgame Bosses
Probably one of the biggest additions are the new endgame bosses. Players will face five new bosses which are unlocked by completing different tasks across Sanctuary. These will require different resources needed to take on each of the bosses. These fights will be available only through progressing in World Tiers 3 and 4. New bosses are also to tackle the complaints from the community about the lack of “endgame experiences”. According to the devs they will provide an opportunity to hunt down Uniques and Uber Unique Items. These Uniques are exclusive to these bosses.

Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint (World Tier III and IV) – Gathering Living Steel from the Tortured Offering in Helltides will let you face off again this boss. Not only gaining Unique Items but the Demonbinder Mount Armor Cosmetic.
Echo of Varshan (World Tier III and IV) – Will require defeating Grotesque Debtors during Whispers of the Dead which can drop Varshan’s body parts. The Tree of Whispers collections will also grant a guranteed part of Varshan’s body so you can collect Grim Favors to do so. Only once you’ve collect enough parts and a Malignant Heart (if you’re playing on World Tier IV) can you summon Varshan. Varshan will have a chance to drop the Flesh-Weld Rod Trophy as well as Unique Items.
The Beast in the Ice (World Tier IV) – This one requires gathering Distilled Fear from succeeding a Tier 30 or higher Nightmare Dungeon. Once you’ve gathered enough, head to the Occultist and craft the Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil. Activate the sigil and tackle The Beast in the Ice. This boss can drop the Skull Torch and Fell Steed Mount Trophies plus Unique Items.
Dark Master (World Tier IV) – Either complete a World Boss on World Tier IV or a Legion Event. This will grant players Exquisite Blood. Gaining enough blood will summon the Dark Master. This boss has the potential to drop the Diadem of the Ancient Helm Cosmetic plus Unique Items.
Echo of Duriel (World Tier IV) – Lastly, this boss will require you to defeat Grigiore, The Galvanic Saint and Varshan in World Tier IV. These will drop ย Mucus-Slick Eggs and Shards of Agony. Once gathering enough, you can summon the Lord of Pain, Duriel. Out of all five bosses, it’s only Duriel who will have the possibility of dropping Uber Uniques. The burning Brimstone Mount is also a drop possibility from this boss.
Endgame Changes
Blizz promises more changes to the endgame in the Season of Blood. Some these changes include the reduced time for Legions Events now only taking 25 minutes to spawn instead of 30. You will also get a longer warning for Legion Events ending now up 10 minutes from 5. World Boss fights will now be more frequent appearing every 3 hours and a half instead of the usual 6.
Rewards for your endeavours have also been increased. Gold and Experience gained from Helltides, using Grim Favors and completing individual Whispers have increased.
Leveling will also be faster, about 40% quicker to reach level 100. This is due to increased experience from killing monsters at level 50+ and will continue to rise steadily as you gain levels. Hopefully this decreased the grind, making it much quicker to get into endgame content. You will also face fewer under powered monsters, matching the current level of your character in World Tier III and IV. Giving a little boost to Elixirs and Season Blessings making them more potent as they become multiplicative with the World Tier bonus.
Easier to Get Around
As previously mentioned the Curiosities vendor will be closer in town, so less time spent going back and forth. There are also changes coming to mounts, making the horse-riding experience a little less tedious. They will be less likely to get stuck on barriers which ends up slowing down your whole experience. Spur duration is also getting an increase, which means more speed for your mount and taking less time to get across Sanctuary. Mounts also get a 15% base speed increase.
New Vampiric Powers
Further details about Vampiric Powers were unveiled. Players will get to use these skills to suck blood from their enemies and use them to activate some deadly new powers. One example is the power of Metamorphosis. At level 1 you can turn into a cloud of bats as you Evade. As you make your move, enemies will endure physical damage, inflicting the Vampiric Curse.

Three Pacts called Ferocity, Divinity and Eternity will be available on new Armor pieces. These are needed to activate the Vampiric Powers. There are also seasonal customisable items, Pacts and Cleansing Acids. These are craftable items found with Blood Seekers. Taking part in the Blood Harvest Season event, Season Journey, Opulent Coffins and through the new quest line.
