Destiny 2 PC Beta Contents & Details

Here’s what PC players will be accessing:

  • Homecoming story mission
  • Inverted Spire strike
  • Countdown on Midtown
  • Control on Javelin-4

Javelin-4 is going to be a brand new map for players, so it’s not just retreads for the PC crowd. Otherwise the contents are the same as were available in the console beta.

Streaming & Capture

Furthermore, Bungie is taking measures to head off any potential cheating by resisting attempts from third-party applications to insert code into the game client. As a result the following capture/streaming options are supported/not supported:

The Game Capture mode of applications such as OBS and XSplit is not supported. The following methods are supported for capturing video of Destiny 2 on PC:

  • To capture while playing in Exclusive Fullscreen:
    • Hardware capture through methods such as ElgatoAVerMedia, or a dedicated streaming PC is supported.
    • NVIDIA Shadowplay and AMD ReLive are supported.
  • To capture while playing in Windowed Mode (including Borderless Fullscreen):
    • OBS and XSplit Screen Capture mode is supported.
    • OBS and XSplit Window Capture mode is supported.

Other recording applications, such as DxtoryRazer CortexFraps have similar restrictions to those outlined above.

There are also some comms considerations that have been addressed:

  • Voice Communications: “Who’s talking” and visual notification features, such as those provided by Discord or Mumble, are not compatible with Destiny 2. Notification features may still be provided through the third-party application.
  • Hardware Monitoring: Framerate and statistics overlays, such as those provided by EVGA Precision XOC, MSi Afterburner, and Fraps, are not compatible with Destiny 2.

There you have it! Your details and what to expect from the Destiny 2 PC beta is now set. Now we just hurry up and wait! You can prepare for the goodness by reading our impressions piece as well as class overviews for the HunterWarlock and Titan.
