Electronic Arts and Motive Studio announced during the Dead Space remake livestream the game is expected to release in Early 2023.
Dead Space Remake Gets Release Window for Early 2023
Over the weekend EA and developer Motive Studio held a livestream which mostly focused on the audio design of the upcoming Dead Space remake. However, a release window was also revealed with the aim of “Early 2023”.
Senior producer Philippe Ducharme explained that in order to meet “expectations of fans” they have put a goal for “early next year”. As for where the team are in terms of development, Ducharme shared:
We’re […] actually just a couple weeks away from doing our first full walkthrough of the game. We’re still pre-alpha, but we believe we’re gonna be a in a solid position […] to meet the date that we have in mind.
The livestream was hosted by director Campos-Oriola and audio director Olivier Asselin who gave a detailed update covering Dead Space’s audio. Key sounds were spotlighted including the iconic weapon of main character Isaac Clarke’s Plasma Cutter, as well as heart rate, breathing and dialogue.
One cool detail shared was the aptly named “A.L.I.V.E.” system which stands for Adrenaline, Limbic System Response, Intelligent Dialog, Vitals, and Exertions. The Limbic System Response is where it gets interesting, as it will actually change the way Isaac sounds depending on a few factors. The system will take into account components such as “Isaac’s breathing and heart rate, vocal excursions and dialogue influenced by a variety of driving gameplay features”.
So depending on Isaac’s state which alters the way his dialogue is delivered, with three variations being Normal, Fatigued, and Injured. The original game also included breathing, but this addition to spoken dialogue will definitely make for a more immersive experience when it comes to his current state, gasps and all.
