Looks neat and cool but if it does appear outside of Japan and they translate the price over with it, no way would I pay nearly 500 dollars for all that.
I agree; $500 is ridiculous. I do want to play the first 2 DS but this bundle will only appeal to the most hardcore of the hardcore souls fans.
Praise the sun! I am so excited for this remaster to finally come out. Better yet, the console with the best exclusives gets some more awesome exclusives. Maybe I’d pay around 2-300$ for this but definitely not 500$. Here’s to hoping for a price drop soon!
500 USD? That’s… patently absurd. I already own DS2+3 on PS4, and buying all three separately wouldn’t even be over $200. Are they trying to say a set of book ends, an encyclopedia, and a few small-looking art cards are collectively worth $300?
Does anyone remember when collector’s editions used to be about promoting the game itself? You’d spend maybe +10-20 extra dollars for an art book and an extra shiny case at most, or you’d get something like Blizzard’s "Diablo/Starcraft Battle Boxes" where the total cost isn’t actually higher than buying each game separately but you can get them all at once in bulk and also there’s a neat little guide to entice people who already have one of the games. This, though, not only is there no reason whatsoever to spend $500 if I already own one or two of the games, but I couldn’t even justify buying the set if I didn’t have any of them because it’s more than twice as expensive. What the heck?
It’s because people pay it. I think it’s too expensive but I’m sure some people will buy it. More power to them, it looks pretty awesome
i tried merging miyzakis picture with a 100 dollar bill.
it could have been worse. this is what happend when i did it the other way around.
if the pictures shared the same dimensions you could probably make a much better one but i don’t want to expand to much effort mocking a cash grab.
I sell Porsches for a living. No one NEEDS a Porsche. It’s a want. A luxury. That’s what this box set is. It will be a limited quantity item that, if you really enjoy Dark Souls, you’ll own it just to have it.
That’s an excellent point
Exactly, a neat luxury item. Besides, I wouldn’t blame Miyazaki-san of greed… I am pretty sure this was the distributor’s idea, and if it’s coming out only for PS4, then my guess would be Sony 😁
rare purple boi! gotta think of something to say.
do you like porshes? why do you feel the way you do?
I just sell them (Porsche). They are a great company to work for and have taken care of me for my tenure with them. The car itself is very well made, and I’d say that you’d be hard pressed to find another car made of it’s quality, except another boutique car or exotic. I do explain to my clients that if they are looking for a reasonable car to take them from A to B, or a commuter vehicle, then this may not be the vehicle for them. If they are looking for something special, that little extra, and want to spend a little more to be the only one in their neighborhood, pta group, or boardroom to flash a Porsche badge when they reach for their keys, this is the car for them.
It would’ve been perfect if his eyes were dollar signs!
I liked the picture anyway though and imagine his eyes are 😉
I won’t be buying but it’s a cool collector’s item for those who enjoy that sort of thing.
so,
i have DS2 on ps4, DS3 on ps4, i dont want all the extra’s, only DS1 on ps4. and i have to pay 500 USD for it? god damn!
No, you have to pay 500 $ only if you want the complete luxury box….DS1 for PS4 will be available for a reasonable price (i hope)
I love From Software, and this franchise ranks in my top 3…but no way would I dish out that kind of money for a collector set.
That’s not how supply and demand works. Products flop all the time; just because something exists does not mean the public will buy it. Especially at higher prices than the consumers feel is justified. Luxury cars are a status symbol and Dark Souls is a nitch videogame series.
supply and demand act a little funny when comes to "collectors items", they don’t generally use price barriers like cars do, instead they primarily rely on a extremely finite supply. i’m sure there is a video game box set collecting market out there somewhere but I don’t really get the sense that there are very limited number of these things.
Supply and demand is economic theory, which is only related to business theory if the business in question isn’t trying to gut the economy for profit. Modern business theory is more about controlling what the consumer can buy in the first place. You don’t need the superior product or even the best deal, you just need to be the one that’s available.
A limited edition makes more sense as I don’t see From selling many of these.
