With the upcoming patch 1.13 to Dark Souls 3, PvP enthusiasts are getting a new arena for the Undead Match, called Round Plaza. Here are a few screenshots of the setting:
The familiar gloomy venue should lend some moonlit drama to your dueling sessions. Thoughts on the new arena and it’s vibe? Let us know in the comments!

So after trashing Round Plaza pretty hard, I gotta say it’s just fine. I still wish it had been Donnel’s nest above the champion grave tender and pretty flowers, but it works. I’d say its a little too big, allows scum sucks to run away and evade in an attempt to eek out a draw, but that’s another story.
Question about match making in 1v1. Does it work the same way an invasion would? If I’m SL65/+8, I could be matched with anyone 49-81SL / +6-10?

I’m not calling it lazy. I’m calling it brilliantly sarcastic.
It looks good though, I am happy there’s finally an arena in Dark Souls that doesn’t have random crap in the way. Random crap is for brawls, not 1v1s.

And even more confirmations in the patch notes.
I don’t think many of us are missing the point. I think they delivered on a fan request and yeah they didn’t need to.
It’s still comical on precisely how they delivered though.
Everyone is missing the point this is a free new map for the pvp mode, and it features the most popular pvp location of the game slightly improved.
You can call it lazy but there was no need for From to even add this to begin with.
*slow clap*
Well played From Soft, well played. Also, you just gave me lecture material for tomorrow’s level design class *grins*

There are several item descriptions that confirm this
Well, okay. It’s big, it’s flat, and it’s round. It is, technically speaking, exactly what the duelists have been asking for.
I maintain that From Software is staffed exclusively by trolls.

If that was called lazy I’d challenge by saying its new content from a PvP perspective, because that coliseum is a dead zone in game. I’d call it being smart/efficient with your assets while providing a new PvP experience for your consumers.
Round Plaza meets the smart/efficient criteria, but its not a new experience and that’s why I think its pretty lame.
I know it’s illogical, but I get a tad bent when I read people refer to FROM as “lazy”.

It would be great but again that would be called laziness so that doesnt solve the “problem” of these people. You cant win.

I’ll say it again. Pyromancer Donnel / Perscilla’s room would have been sooooo much better. Don’t need to change anything, copy paste that model right into the same back drop, dont add any rails, nothing. DONE. I’m pretty confident that if From had dropped a bonfire on the ledge, where they trolled everybody to jump, we’d have a new fight club area instantly. I would pick that arena any day over Pontiff. It’s perfect, with a diverse and beautiful backdrop and 360 degree threat of gravity.

Actually yes it is. You dont create areas in a few hours. Also PVP modes wth ? This is Dark Souls not Call of Duty. Something like that has no place in this game. I dont remember people wanting PVP modes in Dark Souls 2. So why give it to this game whichs PVP is mostly hated ?
They cant create completly never seen new areas without connection to the main game. It would literally be out of place. These ideas lack any of kind logic or forethoughts.
im tired of post pontiff area. and then, they add some stupid round thingy in the style of post pontiff area. lol.
if u scrap the fences, it would be great. but they wouldnt dare to do that.
To come back to the conversation (because I’m still laughing at this), I wanna say sincerely it delivers on an excellent dueling arena.
If they thought it through and landed on this, it actually is genius or trolleriffic which I’m in full support of, but still will laugh a long time at.
And even if they were just being lazy, there’s very little incentive to be super elaborate on this. Personally, I’d love to see some grand colossus of a stadium, complete with ruined seating rising in tiers high above the participants. A dusty, wind blasted zone with swirling debris and a life of its own would be amazing. But seriously, there’s no need to overthink this.
Still though, aha hahahaha ha hahahaha…can’t get over this…
Is it so hard to make a complex and interesting pvp modes (siege, save the princess and return her to the castle or whatever) ? Is it so hard to make an awe-inspiring never seen before “arenas” instead of reusing assets?

it makes sense to me tbh. what better way to send us off than give us the type of the map we wanted in the place the community picked as the first fight club area.
The choice of setting aside I honestly have no problems with this (and really I don’t care that much about the setting, just saying that after being in the Pontiff area for so long a different backdrop would’ve been welcome). A medium-sized, no-frills, flat arena where the focus is purely on the fighting and nothing else. Not so big that everyone can just run around like a jackass until the timer runs out and no chance of failed backstabs/ripostes due to anyone standing on a step above/below you. Like I said in the other thread this seems essentially like that Smash Bros. arena that was just a flat circle in outer space where also those boss fights against the Master Hand(?) and such took place. ALSO like I said in the other thread I hope they add more arenas with a better variety of attributes. Almost purely vertical arenas, like, an arena based on the elevator ride in Consumed King’s Garden and JUST that area with the elevator, and arenas with hazards besides fall damage, a la grounds made of poison, fire, lava or as I suggested, the Smouldering Lake surface where everyone has to fight taking cover behind trees with a ballista firing upon everybody.
Back to this arena, it would be massively improved if they removed the handrails. Fence, whatever. Actual death drops, a new hazard to worry about! Maybe for another time…
And yeah like someone else here implied I’d like to see some arenas based on areas from the previous Dark Souls games.
To be fair, it is a very pretty skybox. Who didn’t take a moment and admire the sky over Irithyll when you first emerged from the catacombs? I think people are just bitter because it’s something every PvPer has fought in before, and for good reason. It’s a good place to PvP.
And come on, it’s not like the other arenas were that different from PvE areas before. The only difference is that this one is where we’ve all pvp’d before.

So much this. Always like your viewpoints that look beyond the veil. Someone that doesnt blame everything on the developers and says: Well its kinda our “fault” actually. I have nothing against this arena. When i first saw it i thought: Lol thats… genius in a very weird way.
wow really wow. lol.
>
except this is what we asked for?
it “could” have been any of the flat boss arenas. But they haven’t given us a boss arena to fight in for any other arena map. SO there was no reason for this one to be different.
I like the pontiff area. And now I don’t have to wait forever for a summon nor having to keep a boss alive for a fight club.
I like. but my friend will die. he’s so sick of pontiff area xD

Put any kind of distraction, mini-steps, towers, colorful backgrounds and generally anything that isnt flat there than people will come and bitch about these things and how it creates unfair situations that have nothing to do with skill. From isnt really lazy here. They give them exactly what people want and are most likely laughing their asses of on the stupid faces of these people.
“Well you wanted flat here have it and now deal with it.”
If you think i am exaggerating than know this: People were complaining about the little mini steps in the pontiff “arena”.
From a duel perspective this is the perfect arena no excuses about non-flatness possible.
Also CD Projects fanbase isnt a bunch of whiny complainers who are and will never be happy and satisfied. No matter what they do EVERYTHING is wrong. Also you have three other arenas. Its not like its your only choice.
Lazy, uninspired and cheap.
This is not CD Projekt, guys…..nuff said
