Concepts
- Dark Souls 3 draws familiar concepts and characters from its predecessors. The game is clearly running on something closely resembling the Bloodborne engine, with enemy models that are very close in size, design and movement to the ones found in the Lovecraftian game. Places and NPCs from Dark Souls 1 return, as well as familiar mechanics such as reinforcement from Dark Souls 2.
- A rather unexpected angle of the return of the Firelink Shrine is that it actually looks remarkably similar to “The Nexus” in Demon’s Souls. Similarly, the Fire Keeper will level the player up by offering: “Touch the darkness inside me”
- Pyromancies are confirmed, including warmth.
- Covenants are returning, and the Way of White covenant has been confirmed
- 4 slots for Rings are confirmed, as well as 3 slots for Weapons and quite interestingly what seems to be an amulet or necklace slot.
- There are healing stations along the way known as Estus Soup, where you may stop and drink from a cauldron to restore your health and mana
- Hollowing seems to be possible, at least according to the Untrue Dark Ring.
- Confirmed Covenants: Way of Blue, Way of White
- Upgrades have changed and they initially seem to be a blend of Demon’s Souls and the first Dark Souls.

This, OM effing G, is my wish coming true?! A chaotic dark equalizer to Red and Blue invasions, a purple menace to them all?! GOOD THING I WORE BROWN PANTS TODAY
>
So Cov of Artorias combined With Dark Divers?
Any information about how warping is done in the “nexus”?
Will it be fully interconnected like Dark Souls 1/2, where there’s only one warping spot (the bonfire), requiring you to travel on foot at least once to unlock an area for warping; or will it be like Demons/Bloodborne, with multiple warping spots, with the Nexus completely isolated?
No pendant burial gift? Blasphemy!

Well, the dark weapon buff from ds2 was kind of purple… Maybe a new covenant linked to the abyss? I mean, the Abyss watchers are obviously doing something, maybe they’re guarding the place so that none can escape it, like, a dark lord?
Also, the sovereignless soul seems interesting lorewise.
I bet you that necklace slot is where the covenant rings from DaS2 will go now. It’s what I’d have done.
lol

The IP may be meaningless but the lore implications to have the games Flat out confirmed to be connected could be lore shattering. So many theories would have to be re thought out.
I’ve been saying for years that IP is meaningless. If the games were connected in Miyazaki’s mind there’s jack all licensing could say about that. Though, if you’re being literal that it’s the Maiden in Black, it would seem they worked out the licensing aspect as well.
Not that it ultimately matters. I’d be looking forward to the game even if you said you leveled up by having a small, red creature with large ears ask you to “Touch the Snaaarf, snyaaarf inside of me.”
EDIT: Didn’t read it all before commenting…
There’s a class that STARTS WITH A BOW!!!!!!!!
PURPLE AURA!!
SNAAARF SNAARF!!!!
I Wonder What cov. the purple phantoms belong to.

Is this a new hint on the popular theory that all games are connected.

Dark Souls 3 draws familiar concepts and characters …
So… I’ve been mulling this for days
The firelink shrine is actually the nexus
And the Fire Keeper is actually the Maiden in Black, she even tells you to touch the darkness within her to level up!
