Welcome to our weekly series that features a community submitted Dark Souls 3 build. Dark Souls 3 build crafting is one of the most enjoyable parts of the game and a big reason for its longevity. Who better to turn to when in need of a new idea than your fellow players? To have your build featured on the blog, you may submit your best setups on our forum thread and every week we will select one at random to be featured here. Feel free to discuss and debate the build’s strengths and weaknesses but as always be constructive with your fellow Dark Souls players. This week’s build, “Gabriel Pure Faith” comes from community member IgnusKnavery and is a Faith focused build.

Dark Souls 3 Build of the Week: Gabriel Pure Faith

Strategy
Due to the investment needed, I decided to use the Lightning Longsword. It does around 460 damage when you reach the end of the build. You could also wear the Prisoner’s Chain instead of Ring of Favor +3 and put some points in DEX an STR to use the Raw Dragonslayer’s Axe. That allows you a little more freedom when fighting lightning resistant bosses, but is more of a buff build.
The miracles that really stand out here are Lightning Arrow, which can be acquired in The Ringed City DLC, and Lightning Stake, which can be found in Smouldering Lake. In PvP, both are extremely dangerous at medium and close range respectively. With the Saint’s Talisman, you can use the unfaltering prayer, which has some good poise. This means you’ll seldom get interrupted when casting, so you can trade hits with whoever your fighting. The Simple Caestus is for regeneration of the FP you’ll be expending.

“Are you a cleric or something?”
To elaborate on the Dragonslayer’s Axe option
The DSA at worst is another 12 SL worth of investment for proficiency over Longsword.
Against a PvP defender with 150 base phy/ele resists, 20% absorption
With 18 Str, 14 Dex, 60 Fth
Lightning Longsword 1HR1: 220 damage
Raw DSA 1HR1: 229 damage
Lightning DSA 1HR1: 248 damage
Gold Pine Resin Raw DSA 1HR1: 303 damage
247 Spell Buff Lightning Blade Raw DSA 1HR1: 399 damage
Disregard that, the scheduler pushed an old revisions again. All fixed now.
“Vigor: 40 (+5 from Prisoner’s Chain: 39 total)”
“Vitality: 8 (+5 from Prisoner’s Chain: 20 total)”
“Dexterity: 10 (+5 from Hunter’s Ring: 40 total)”
Um.
