Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Be an Epic Games Store Exclusive

Last updated on February 15th, 2019

Fans have been concerned whether Cyberpunk 2077 would be going down the route of an Epic Store exclusive which has been a trend with a few game recently. In tweet from the developers themselves this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Cyberpunk 2077 Won’t Be an Epic Games Store Exclusive

While titles such as Metro Exodus got a time exclusive release on the Epic Games Store, a decision made by Koch Media, not all developers are following suit.

When a fan reached out to CD Projekt Red via Twitter to ask if they too were going down the exclusive digital store front path, their reply was a short but very effective “Yeaaaaaaaaah….Pass on that”.

Ever since the launch of the digital store Epic Games was revealed at The Game Awards last year, a few titles have decided to release on Epic Games first rather than Steam or even GOG which is owned by the developer’s parent company. This include titles such as the action-RPG shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, which launches on Epic Games and Uplay next month. The platform aims to offer a revenue split with developers that is more attractive than Steam, taking only a 12% cut.

Looking back on previous CD Projekt Red titles such as the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game was made available across a number of different platforms including GOG, Origin and Steam. Currently the developer has yet to have any of their games on the Epic Games Store.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One with no confirmed release date as of yet, but some sources have said 2019. You can check out why the title has made our Top 10 Upcoming RPGs for 2019 here.
