The team at The Farm 51 have been hard at work releasing constant updates for their latest game, Chernobylite. For those unaware of what Chernobylite is all about, here’s a small tidbit:

  • Genre: Survival Horror, RPG
  • Developed by: The Farm 51
  • Published by: The Farm 51
  • Release Date: July 28, 2021
  • Platforms: PC (via Steam, GoG and Epic Games), PS4 and Xbox One
  • Number of Free DLC: 2

Chernobylite is a post-apocalyptic survival horror RPG set in the exclusion zone of Chernobyl. In it, you get to explore a ruined landscape, filled with different kinds of dangers lurking all around. Because of the horrific happenings in the past, reality is fractured and thus time isn’t everything that it seems like.

The player takes up the mantle of Igor, an ex-employee of the Chernobyl power plant. Igor must explore the ruins of Chernobyl and investigate his fiance’s mysterious disappearance. Chernobylite’s story is also non-linear so you can take challenges in any order you wish to.

The game is a mix of STALKER and Fallout 4. Aside from trudging through Pripyat, battling supernatural foes, you will make choices and gain companions. You must build up your team, training them in order to be able to survive the danger zone. The game also has some light base-building elements, wherein you have to manage your hideout and keep everyone safe and happy.

Ghost Town DLC

Last December 21st, the free DLC “Ghost Town” was released. This addition takes place in the residential districts of Pripyat, where you must again engage in hostile forces, both mortal and supernatural. The team takes pride in the fact that the locations are 3D scanned versions of the real thing, essentially becoming accurate recreations of the actual area.

You will be able to explore 3 new side missions and new monster hunts. Among that, there have been numerous bug fixes and optimizations made.

You can check out the trailer that the team released, below. While it does not reveal much on what you will discover, it is still very tense much like the main game.

Chernobylite Content Roadmap

On Halloween of 2021, the team also released another free DLC – Monster Hunt. It introduced to us new side missions. Here, Igor is tasked with hunting down three new monsters. Each of them has powerful, unique skills and thus Igor will need to make use of all of his skills and wits to be able to survive.

The Farm 51 also has quite a number of free DLC planned as well for 2022. In Q1 of next year, they will be releasing the “Blue Flames” DLC. This addition will include new cosmetics, new activities, events, weapons as well as an “Enhanced Edition”. So far no details have been leaked regarding what exactly is being enhanced. We only know that this will be a free upgrade for next-gen consoles.

In Q2, they will be releasing “Red Trees”, which will bring along a new area, the Cooling Towers. Q3 of 2022 will have “Green Walls”. This update will contain the Gate of Madness, a new game mode and a new VR Map with side activities. The final piece of content planned for Q4 2022 will be “Black Smoke”. In it, another new game mode will be added called Brothers in Arms and a new event called, “Farewell my Doll”. No details of the DLC for Q2 onwards have been discussed, so we can only guess what this all means.

Other Paid DLC

Also, the team has released a few cosmetic, paid DLC. The Autumn Dread Pack lets you put eerie green glowing decals on certain weapons. The Deadly Frost Pack has chilly looking blue weapons available.

It is quite surprising, but refreshing, to hear that The Farm 51 is quite dedicated to giving the game longevity. The game currently sits at 83% “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, with over 6,000 reviews. We can’t wait to hear more on this game and get more details on the DLC on the roadmap.

Chernobylite is currently on a 25% discount during the Steam Winter Sale 2021. Be sure to catch the rest of our recommendations in our latest video below.
