CD Projekt is hoping to bring back many fans, along with attracting new ones with The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.
The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel: CD Projektโs Big Hopes
CPR is developing The Witcher 4 and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 for PC, Steam Deck, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, though no release dates have been confirmed yet. The Polish developers are very clear about their aim to win back many fans.
After releases like The Witcher 3 and Phantom Liberty, the studio still wants to redeem itself with players and hopes to see both new and returning users in these upcoming titles.
In a recent interview, Cyberpunk 2077 sequelโs associate game director Pawel Sasko shared his optimistic view on the matter while discussing the game’s release in Night City.
โI accept it and I understand it,โ said Sasko. โIt might be a situation that some will never experience. But it’s the price we unfortunately have to pay for what happened.โ
The developers often revisit the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, a rare case of failure that was later redeemed as nearly everything improved.
โBut I hope that, through the work we are doing, through the things we are showing, we can truly win back some of those people,โ Sasko added.
He is confident that โwhen they hear someone talk about the incredible experiences they can have in, for instance, Phantom Liberty, the next Witcher, the new Cyberpunk, or Hadar,” they will return.
โWhen they realize that these games offer incredible value, they will seek them out, play them, and enjoy them,โ just like many did with Cyberpunk 2077.
So far, we know that Hadar isnโt โa mix of cosmic horror and feudal Japan,โ but CD Projektโs new IP is the first original creation from the studio.
CD Projekt Bets on Both Games To Bring Fans Back
โThereโs nothing we can say to convince anyone,โ Sasko commented. โThere will only be a moment when we need to show up,โ and perhaps fans will return for both projects.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt REDโs CEO has already shared updates about the new IP and how it will differentiate itself from The Witcher and Cyberpunk.
Itโs clear that CD Projekt is hoping The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will bring back many fans.
