CD Project Red Shares How the Witcher 3’s DLC will Influence Cyberpunk 2077
In a recent interview with VGC, level designer for Cyberpunk 2077 Max Pears talked about how the Witcher 3‘s DLC would make an impact on how Cyberpunk 2077 would receive downloadable content. Also sharing more about side quest design and other aspects of the game.
In the article is shares that the developer team are looking into DLC content especially after Witcher 3:
With Witcher 3 the game got better with quality of life updates for the community as well, like how we improved the UI and things like that. So we’ll be listening to feedback but we do have focus on what the DLC will be.
Pears goes on to say that the Witcher 3 has helped the developer in shaping DLC and it will be from this experience that will determine how they will apply that to Cyberpunk.
We’ve learnt from that and that is the strategy for how we’ll apply DLC to Cyberpunk as well. We’ll look to take what we’ve learnt from Witcher 3 and apply that.
According to Pears the side-quests are just as important as the main story because of the size of the world which is something that they have discovered in The Witcher 3 side quests:
I have been involved in side-quests and they’re a crucial part of the game because it’s a massive world. Some of The Witcher 3′s side quests felt like main quests by themselves. We’re giving a lot of love to that area and how it plays into the game world, like how you’ll gain street cred, which determines which vendors you unlock and stuff like that. These side quests will benefit you.
Cyberpunk 2077 will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 16th 2020.
