Best known for their remake of Shadow of the Colossus, Bluepoint are already hinting at their upcoming title and this one will be considered a “Re-Envisioning” rather than a remake or remaster.
Bluepoint Games’ Shares Next Project Will Be “Re-Envisioning” a Previous Title
At Bluepoint Games GDC presentation they outlined a new project in the works, explaining that their previous work for Shadow of the Colossus was considered a remake but their next will be much bigger according to technical director Peter Dalton:
For Shadow of the Colossus we don’t call it a remaster, we coin it a remake due to the complexity of the project. And moving forward to our next project, we call it a re-envisioning given that it goes well beyond what we thought was possible on Shadow of the Colossus.
This leaves us to wonder what title they could be taking on, with many speculating that it could be a Demon’s Souls remaster. While one of the older titles in the souls franchise, there is still a lot of fandom revolving around this game. Many have continually asked FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki if he would consider working on a remake, he has already expressed that Demon’s Souls is not really a project he’d envision revisiting, but would be open to another studio taking the reins:
If it was a studio that really loved the original work and really put their heart and soul into realizing it again, then that’s something I would enjoy. But it’s really complicated because I have these fond memories. Thinking about the idea of a remaster gives me kind of butterflies in my stomach and makes me a little nervous, so it’s complicated. But I understand there are many users and many players and fans out there who really love Demon’s, so if that’s something they could accomplish with a studio that loved the work, then yeah, I’d be okay with that.

It was February 2018 when Demon’s Souls finally shut its servers, after running for about a decade. With Dark Souls Remastered releasing last year and even coming to a new platform of the Nintendo Switch. As well as FromSoftware moving onto new projects such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, it could be possible another studio may take on such a project.
While the developer is not under Sony, they have an existing relationship with them, which could keep it in the Playstation family. It is also possible they could be taking a different direction entirely.
Bluepoint Games have brought a slew of games to newer platforms including handling the port for God of War and God of War II in the form of God of War Collection for PS3, as well as taking on Ico and Shadow of Colossus for PS3. They later brought PS3 titles such as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Shadow of the Colossus to PS4.
What do you think the title is? Let us know in the comment below.

Glad I just got Demon’s Souls regardless! I got the JP version and having a great time. Man… I hope they remake it. Personally I think Demon’s Souls may be the best in the series, as far as design, simplicity, usage of space etc. I would LOVE a re-envisioning, oh my god…
Yeah it could be Demon Souls, but…
IT COULD BE ANY OTHER FUCKING GAME!
