Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Adds Journey-Inspired Area, Boss and Item

Metroidvania side-scroller Bloodstained Ritual of the Night gets a new update this week inspired by Journey.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night Adds Journey-Inspired Area, Boss and Item

The next crossover-inspired content for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night sets to be from the Journey, by developer thatgamecompany. BROTN has featured some collaborations in the past, the most recent being the Child of Light, which came with a new playable character for players to experience.

In the update that arrives on August 23rd, a new Journey-inspired level will be unleashed into Bloodstained called the Tunnels. The hidden area is found behind a secret entrance, and will require some exploration and shard abilities in order to navigate. Face a new challenge with a guardian, who will reward you with a special equipable item.

Unlock a new area the Tunnels insired by Journey in the new update for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night.

In case you missed it, Journey is an adventure game that sets players on a…yes journey across ancient ruins and mystic lands. Through exploring, the game opens up a unique experience, accompanied by a fellow companion. It looks like Bloodstained will gain a new section of the castle that brings in this mystical new region that requires players to dive straight into its cavernous maze.

How to Unlock The Tunnels

In order to gain access to the Tunnels, players will need to have freed Gebel and already have uncovered the Den of Behemoths. This room is marked on the castle map, but it is not in the Den of Behemoths. Use the map and locate the highlighted area, this is where the entrance will lie.

The new update comes with bug fixes and updates.

Artplay has been adding more content for Bloodstained and doesn’t seem like this we’ll be hearing of the title, as the developer has confirmed a sequel is in the works. It was revealed last year the second game was in early development.  If you want to know what we thought of the game you can check it out in Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Review.

Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Stadia, Steam, GOG and Switch. The update goes live on August 23rd. Want more metroidvania?
