With BlizzConline fast approaching, many were hoping to hear some news for Diablo 4, including a release date, preferably this year. However, Blizzard has now confirmed both the ARPG and Overwatch 2, won’t be releasing in 2021.

In an earning’s call this week, Activision Blizzard said neither Diablo 4 nor Overwatch 2 will be coming out this year. In a news release they did disclose they are making “significant progress” on developing these titles, as well as for “other key intellectual properties”.

Another interesting detail revealed is that the developer confirmed another remastered title to be in the works, which could mean a possible Diablo 2 remaster. The mobile game Diablo Immortal is also currently in development.

Diablo 4 has been in development for some time, and has changed directions more than once. At BlizzCon 2019, game director Luis Barriga shared that Diablo aims to “take the series back to its roots”.

Both Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 follow up to two major Blizzard franchises, with big followings. While they won’t be releasing this year, hopefully we get more details and gameplay at BlizzConline later this month. Blizz released a promo artwork image that features Lilith front and center, teasing more Diablo 4 at this year’s virtual event.

IGN Nordic also recently reported that Blizzard might be working on an unannounced IP called Fenway, which might be announced during BlizzConline. We’ll have to wait and see more details of the upcoming schedule to see if some news of this is coming.
