Blasphemous II Will Make Changes To New NG+ Mode

Blasphemous II announces a patch to fix bugs, along with an upcoming update to address player complaints about the new game mode.

Blasphemous II New Update

More than a year after its release on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC (and later on PS4 and Xbox One), Blasphemous II returns with a new update and its latest DLC.

At the end of October, The Game Kitchen released Mea Culpa, a DLC that expands the base game with new content, additional areas to explore, and the return of the iconic sword from the first game.

However, issues arose with the update, which introduced a New Game+ mode that includes the True Torment difficulty. This hasnโ€™t been well-received by fans, prompting the Seville-based studio to make urgent adjustments.

The Game Kitchen Responds

Through their account on X, the studio issued a message addressing complaints regarding the recent update of Blasphemous II.

In the message, The Game Kitchen acknowledges the update’s bugs and promises to release a patch to fix them this week, taking into account fan comments.

The complaints stem from the fact that the new mode doesnโ€™t fully qualify as a New Game+, lacking many key features typical of this mode.

In True Torment, players cannot carry over skills, upgrades, or even rosary beads; only collectible cherubs (Proximoโ€™s brothers) are retained between playthroughs.

This has been a major disappointment for many Blasphemous II fans, and their criticisms prompted an immediate response from The Game Kitchen.

โ€œBased on your requests, we are preparing an update focused on the True Torment mode,โ€ they explain. โ€œIt will arrive shortly after the bug-fixing patch.โ€

Additionally, The Game Kitchen detailed that the update will include balance adjustments in areas where players reported severe issues to the studio.

Finally, the Seville-based team encourages all players to report any issues they find in the game, whether in the updated version of Blasphemous II or the Mea Culpa DLC.

Those wishing to report issues can do so through the gameโ€™s Steam forum or via Team 17โ€™s customer support.

The Game Kitchen is committed to ensuring that Blasphemous II remains a unique experience in the Metroidvania genre.
