Black Desert Online Developer Pearl Abyss Teases 3 New MMOs
The Korean developer and publisher Pearl Abyss is well known for it’s highly detailed character creation and action combat MMORPG title Black Desert Online. It has now revealed three new games in development and will share more during G-Star 2019’s Pearl Abyss Connect next week.
While all three, Crimson Desert, DokeV and Plan 8 are all MMOs, each take a different theme for the genre. Crimson Desert follows the same idea of Black Desert Online, being described as an “open-world MMORPG set in the an epic-fantasy world”. Players will try to survive a war that rages between three tribes in the world of Pywell. The title has Game Design Director Jason Jung and Lead Combat Designer Eter Lee of RYL Online.
DokeV on the other hand is more a “collectible MMORPG for all ages”. Not much detail was shared for this one, but according to Dualshockers who spoke with a spokeperson for the company, it follows similar mechanics to those found in Pokemon. Developers working on the project include Black Desert Online’s Animation Director Sang-young Kim and Game Designer Suh Won Choi.
Lastly, Plan 8 takes quite a different tack to the fantasy world of Black Desert, instead this is an MMO shooter. It’s in some experience hands though as Counter-Strike co-creator Mihn Le has taken the position of Technical Adviser for this one. Environmental Art Director Seung-ki Lee is also part of this project. A trailer is expected at Pearl Abyss Connect which takes place next week.
If Black Desert Online is anything to go by in terms of the worlds Pearl Abyss can make, these MMOs will surely take quite the detailed dose when it comes to fantasy. More news is expected from the Pearl Abyss Connect on each of these projects.
