Bethesda Confirms No Cross-play for Fallout 76

Cross-play is still a hot topic for gaming recently, with Fornite finally getting cross-play on Playstation 4, where does this leave upcoming games such as Fallout 76?

Bethesda Confirms No Cross-play for Fallout 76

In a recent statement on Twitter, the Senior VP of Communications Pete Hines of Bethesda Softworks, he confirms the state of cross-play for action-RPG Fallout 76:

Fallout 76 does not support crossplay, for a number of reasons. I have no idea if it ever will. But I assure you it is not on our radar right now as we focus on B.E.T.A. and Launch.

While previously it was mentioned that cross-play was an aim for Bethesda ‘s games, it is not a foreseeable goal for Fallout 76. With another title that has seen an uphill battle with cross progression, The Elder Scrolls: Legends the strategy card game, Hines shared that it was vital and would “counter what the game has been about”.

While I will probably never pick this up, if I do it will be on PC once private servers and, with them, modding become a thing. That can never happen on PS4, so even though Fallout 4 had some limited modding, it won’t ever happen for Fallout 76.
