Games publisher and developer Bandai Namco, the company which will be releasing the upcoming anime-souls CODE VEIN and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, among others, has plans to broaden its business horizons.
Bandai Namco – Even More Games!
The VP of Marketing and Digital, Hervé Hoerdt of Bandai Namco Europe, announced that the company plans to do more localizations and include more platforms, as they’d like to appeal to a much wider audience, “especially for the UK market”.
Hoerdt notes that the Japanese-centric publisher has “great content” in its portfolio, and would like to boost their presence on the PC and Xbox platforms, as well in other languages such as Russian and Polish.
Just recently, Bandai Namco announced that the next installment to their Monster Hunter like series, GOD EATER 3, will be making its way to the West, along with a new trailer for the game that you can check out.
You can read the VP’s full statement, down below:
Japanese companies mostly develop on Nintendo and PlayStation, but more and more we have the Xbox, especially for the UK market, and PC. We also want our fans to enjoy localized games, so we’re doing more games in languages like Polish, Russian and Arabic with more to come.
Last but not least, it’s about the IPs. Obviously, we think about the big anime IPs like One Piece, Naruto and Dragonball, but our Japanese content is only addressing a limited part of the market segment. We’ve also been working with studios in Europe and we’ve been going back to Japan saying, ‘Okay, these are the hottest ones and we’ll bring these new IPs to market over the next five years.’ That’s a pillar of our company, and we’re going to use it to double our business.
Furthermore, Bandai Namco is working with Life is Strange devleloper, Dontnod Entertainment in releasing a new unannounced narrative-adventure IP, with hopes to expand its indie lineup that it can offer to players.
Bandai Namco will be releasing Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet first in Japan on February 8, 2018, with a western launch following sometime later in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
Bandai Namco will also be launching the much-anticipated souls-inspired CODE VEIN sometime in early 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
