Like me, you may be mostly familiar with Bandai Namco due to the console RPGs they develop, such as the Tales of series and Ni No Kuni II. Or perhaps you know of them due to their involvement publishing Dark Souls. But when they’re not developing beautiful RPGs for consoles…or publishing terrifying ones…they’re heavily involved with mobile gaming.

Bandai Namco’s big mobile gaming plans for 2018, including Dragon Ball Legends

Its anime-focused titles are some of its biggest successes worldwide. Thanks to these exclusive rights to anime properties, Bandai Namco plan to win big on mobile in 2018.

Announced at Bandai Namco’s Mobile Entertainment Lineup Presentation during GDC 2018 in San Francisco, the Japanese company revealed a number of anime titles. The biggest announcement was Dragon Ball Legends. After working with Dragon Ball Xenoverse developer DIMPS, Bandai Namco is positioning Dragon Ball Legends as a flagship mobile title. They’ve been working on a new PvP service for it powered by the Google Cloud Platform.

Bandai Namco’s other anime mobile game plans for 2018

Its other mobile anime games for 2018 are new entries in the Sword Art Online, One Piece, Naruto and Boruto series. The first of the others to be released will be Sword Art Online: Integral Factor. It’s already been released in Japan and was received really well there. Sword Art Online: Integral Factor will soon be released in the West too. You can expect a new story, characters and quests. Moving away from the anime, it will also feature a brand new protagonist who has been swept up in the Death Game. If this sounds great to you then good news – you can pre-register for it on mobile.

We’ll also get a western release of One Piece Bounty Rush later this year. It’s available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store. Bounty Rush is a team-based 3D action battle game for Android and iOS. It’s going to be a popular one, having already amassed a million participants for its pre-launch test.

Bandai Namco also revealed that they have big updates planned for Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage. It launched globally in November. For example, the arrival of a new Raid Battle feature that was tested earlier this year. Having been received well in the test phase, it’s now a part of the core game and will let you take part in huge battles.
