With Baldur’s Gate 3’s big launch later this year in August, we’re treated to another look at the final cast for the CRPG. This time developer Larian Studios introduces Jason Isaacs, who’s played amazing roles such as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, and Captain Hook in the 2003 version of Peter Pan. This time Isaacs will be taking up the role of the smouldering commander of the mechanical army of Steel Watchers, Lord Enver Gortash.

Isaacs is the latest of the talented lineup to join the cast of Baldur’s Gate 3. This now includes J.K. Simmons known for Whiplash and Spider-Man.

Steel Watchers protect the city but their designer has mysteriously disappeared.

The Steel Watchers are an interesting group in BG3, as they comprised of magical clockwork warriors. Yes, you heard that right, not only are they mechanical, they are magical. These mechanical marvels have been designed to protect the city. Lord Enver Gortash is enlisted to help find the recent missing designer of the Steel Watchers, Duke Ravengard.

Jason Isaacs takes up the role of Lord Enver Gortash in charge of the Steel Watchers in Baldur’s Gate 3.

But there’s a power struggle at hand, between the factions that are trying to gain control of the city. Players will be thrust into a place where it’s difficult to weed out the unsavoury characters from the lot. Gortash is being “mischaracterized as a villain” says Jason Isaacs. The world has not been kind to this character who has learnt to “lie better” in order to manoeuvre its brutal outcomes.

I think this is going could be an enemy we love to hate, as Isaacs teases he found ways to make the players “hate him more”. But it might not be as straightforward as we think. The game is shaping up to have quite a talented cast.

Baldur’s Gate 3 will be leaving early access on August 31st 2023 for PC and PS5. You can drop by our wiki for all the latest builds, guides and more.
