Baldur’s Gate 3 Delayed from August Early Access Launch
Larian Studios made an announcement on their official Twitter page sharing that Baldur’s Gate 3 early access will be delayed from August. Alongside the news of the delay was the message that the new early access release date will be announced in the near future. There will also be a Larian stream on August 18th to share more details about the official launch date for Baldur’s Gate 3 early access. Geoff Keighley will also be on the stream, which suggests it will be part of the ongoing Summer Game Fest coverage.
Good news and bad news. BG3 won’t hit August, but it’s just around the corner. We’ll be announcing the release date, as well as big news on the Panel From Hell alongside @geoffkeighley, @LarAtLarian and the Larian crew. Tune in Aug 18th. https://t.co/S1RlVpJ8yw pic.twitter.com/NCkrnHHpH0

While it’s sad to hear the early access won’t be happening this month, it will be exciting to learn some new details about the game from the stream which will be taking place on Twitch and can be viewed on the official Baldur’s Gate website.
This news comes quite close to the announcement from the director of publishing at Larian Studios Michael Douse, that Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t be having a pre-order period with any retailers. This also came with a warning for any BG3 fans to not fall for any pre-orders on websites. Currently there has been no announcement for a set launch date or pricing for the game.
Be wary of preordering BG3 anywhere right now. We won’t have a pre-order period. We have no plans to work with retail yet, and no 3rd party distributors. Haven’t announced a price or date. We can’t guarantee you’ll get anything from them.

At PAX East 2020, we got to have a look at a 3 hour presentation, showing some of the upcoming gameplay, mechanics, and more for Baldur’s Gate 3. Our initial impressions are that it looks a lot like Divinity Original Sin 2, but of course with an upgraded engine with some very nice graphics. But there is a lot more to it, so if you want to know more, we have a whole impressions video.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on PC and Google Stadia with no release window announced as of yet. Early Access will now take place sometime in 2020 with more news coming on August 18th.
