The upcoming cooperative action-RPG Babylon’s Fall will be holding a collaboration event with the beloved Nier Automata. In the limited event, players will have the opportunity to rekindle their roles as 2B, 9S and A2.

Babylons Fall - 01

They will be able to roam familiar locations such as the Amusement Park and battle familiar robotic foes. It isn’t quite clear yet what else exactly players will have access to. However, we can be sure that there will be more quests, NPCs, enemies, and of course, music based on Nier Automata.

It also isn’t the first time that Babylon’s Fall had crossover elements. Previously, it was confirmed that the team at Platinum “borrowed” some gear and emote assets from Final Fantasy XIV. This is all with their permission, of course.

About the Fall

Babylon’s Fall is an upcoming action game that features Platinum Games’ signature combat styles. As with the rest of their games, combat is swift and stylish. Players will take up the mantle as a “Sentinel” and customize their characters as they see fit. They will then be able to group up with three others for their adventures.

Babylons Fall - 02

Armed with a myriad of weapons, skills, and other abilities, players must ascend the tower of Babel and battle many foes. Each player will be able to create a custom loadout comprised of up to four distinct weapons. They will also be implanted with a Gideon Coffin, a magical device attached to each players’ back. This omnitool will be responsible for various traversal, exploration, combat and story elements.

The game is set to launch on March 3, 2022, and will be always online. You can see our initial impressions and first look at our Babylon’s Fall First Impression.

Babylon’s Fall and the Eternal Ziggurat

Sandwiching the Nier Automata collaboration event is what Platinum Games is calling “The Eternal Ziggurat”. Basically, this is what they will be calling the game’s Premium Battle Pass. This battle pass will initially be free for all players. Eventually, the model will be converted to the paid model and will require players to purchase additional seasons. Future seasons will cost 1000 Garaz, the premium currency, or about $10.00.

The game’s first season is planned to last from February 25 to May 31. As of right now, the date is not yet 100% set in stone and can still change.

Babylon’s Fall Season 1 Roadmap

On March 7, a few days after the official release, a new game mode will be introduced: Duels. This will probably allow players to compete against one another in frantic and high-action combat.

Babylons Fall - 03

The next update, version 1.1.0 will be introduced on March 22, a couple of weeks later. This will be more substantial and contain more new elements. Some of the incoming features include a new enemy faction, the Molzamite, a new weapon type, new bosses, armor and cosmetics. Players will also have access to a new game mode, the Gauntlet. Based on the wording this will most likely be a battery of combat challenges one after another with limited recovery options.

Ending off The Eternal Ziggurat will be version 1.1.1 on April 26th. This update will have additional story beats as well as the “Erebus Festival”.

Babylon’s Fall Demo

Ahead of its release, you can download a free demo of Babylon’s Fall on PlayStation starting February 25th. Any progress made in the demo will transfer to the full game. For PC players you can get your hands on their demo at the end of March.

Early Access will be available for Deluxe Edition owners on February 28th for both Playstation and Steam, with official service launch happening on March 3rd.

The Nier Automata Anime

While on the subject of other Platinum Games’ amazing works, it was also confirmed on the 5th anniversary of Nier Automata that the beloved classic would be getting an anime adaptation.

There is a teaser site and a quick 30-second video, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have any additional info. All it contains is a few lines in Japanese as well as 2B looking as threatening and graceful as ever. Of course, we can expect it to look flashy, have a great storyline and have some amazing music.

It has us quite hyped, still. While we may not be getting any more Nier, the game is still popular and lives on in collaborations events such as Babylon’s Fall and Yoko Taro’s Voice of Cards. The Nier Anime adaptation is being worked on A-1 Pictures. The studio is famous for anime such as Sword Art Online or The Seven Deadly Sins.
