Assassin’s Creed: Mirage Pays Homage to the Original Assassin’s Creed Games

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is setting the stage and amping up the ante in preparation for its launch date. With a new gameplay trailer of what’s to come this October 12, 2023, fans of the origin Assassin’s Creed games are in for a treat. Gone are the days when you keep roaming around the seemingly endless open world of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage Pays Homage to the Original Assassin’s Creed Games

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is going back to its roots and revisiting the formula that made the franchise a huge hit! Here, you play as Bashim, a street thief who is willing to learn the tricks of the trade to become a Master Assassin. Can he face the truth and deliver justice to those who deserve it?

So far, the characters that have been revealed are Bashim and Roshan. Roshan is his teacher and is voiced by none other than Shohreh Aghdashloo of Mass Effect. Their dynamics, however, have yet to be revealed as the recent trailer focused on the moves you can execute.

Back-to-Back Parkour Never Runs Out of Style

Set in the beautiful Ancient Baghdad some 20 years before the events of Valhalla, you find yourself traversing the industrial Karkh as well as the lavish and well-kept gardens of Round City. Even though the game won’t be open-world, there are still many things to do. World events are known to pop up and you can also interact with historical figures of Baghdad. Of course, not everything is what it seems, especially when you view it from the top.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage’s first gameplay reveal immediately shows us what to expect – sudden assassinations with the Switchblade during broad daylight and epic takedowns from up above. Truly, the making of an Assassin’s Creed game. As the Hidden One, you search for answers about your death and rebirth, all while fluidly performing suave parkour. Jumping from one ledge to the next and using a tall pole to get to your destination has never looked this amazing. Not to mention the classic dive that the good old days had!

Shady Things Here and There

Every tool is at your disposal from the smoke bombs to cover your ground to the dagger that you throw into the face of your target. Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Bashim looks like a reincarnation of Ezio and he’s back with a vengeance. You can even quietly climb toward the rooftop to then dispose of your enemy by slashing his innards with a sharp blade. Of course, it doesn’t end there since you can then throw him over you. Who wouldn’t want that?

Heavy stealth continues to be the main mechanic of the game. With smooth visuals and animation, you can clearly see how Bashim’s movements affect his enemies. Everything he does brings back memories of the past because it perfectly encapsulates the life of a true assassin. Fluid sword-fighting with a long blade, quick and expertly moves with a dagger. You will never run out of shady things to do.

Assassin’s Creed Forever

However, this isn’t all that Assassin’s Creed fans have to look forward to. There were tons of other spinoff titles during the Ubisoft Forward 2022 event.

Assassin's Creed Mirage - Time to Make a Mess
Time to Make a Mess

First is Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Within the tapestry of Hexe, players will be transported to a version of 16th Century Europe, where the Witch Trials occurred. A merciless era of unyielding executions unfolds, shrouding the continent in a cloak of fear and paranoia. Witchcraft, a charged accusation, seizes the hearts and minds of countless souls. This is said to be one of the darker games in the series, which will be quite the departure.

Next is Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. Cast your gaze upon its tapestry, for it shall unfurl within the realm of feudal Japan, which is a setting that Assassin’s Creed fans have been waiting for. Harmonizing with its evocative backdrop, Codename Red beckons players into a realm suffused with the allure of the “very powerful shinobi fantasy” and will likely be compared to the likes of Ghost of Tsushima
