Ashen Gets New Gameplay Video from Gamescom 2018
New gameplay footage has been released for Ashen from Gamescom 2018. The video shares a closer look into the lore of the upcoming action-RPG showcasing how players will not only counter enemies but interact with the world around them. The game features stamina based combat set in a growing environment, towns will change over time giving a feeling of a living world.
Players have a chance to explore an open-world environment with multiplayer, however to keep the player immersed in their setting, other players you encounter will appear as quest givers which is quite a unique take. The developers define this as “passive co-op”, focus will be drawn to the quest characters and the lore of the world rather than what other player’s look like or gear they are carrying. Other player encounters are brief, as AUROR44’s goal is for the player “to be build meaningful relationships with our characters”.
We also get a look at the combat with a few different factions including giants, which wield large weapons that players must dodge and counter. There is the ability to craft weapons and armor in Ashen, giving choice when it comes to upgrading and builds.
Ashen is part of the ID@Xbox’s lineup for indie titles and was announced back in E3 2015 as part of Microsoft’s showcase.
