To make sure that Bioware’s Anthem get’s off on the right foot, they continue to tell fans that it will not be a repeat of Battlefront II. Loot boxes have been a topic of controversy and lead producer of Anthem Michael Gamble, tries to assure worried fans that have taken to Twitter, that it will not follow suit.

We aren’t going to add loot boxes. It serves no purpose. The cosmetics and microtransaction plan is what we’ve outlined.

While the game won’t carry loot boxes there will still be microtransactions in terms of cosmetics that can be bought for your Javelin suits, which are not related to progression or story. Gamble also went on to share what would be included in the Legion of Dawn Edition.

Anthem will be released on February 22nd for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

  1. Bioware don’t shy away from Microtransactions, they will sell you things to give you advantage over others. Though they might not lock them behind pay wall.

It happened in ME3, DA:I, and will probably be what all Anthem are about.

They should just go back to Dragon Age and give us good stories again, instead of this …

  2. Of course that doesn’t mean they won’t have pay-to-win microtransactions. Just look Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer where some people were paying them on the order of $15,000!

Only now the entire game is multiplayer. In ME3 it was split off, though they manipulated people into playing multiplayer by making it impossible to get the maximum victory conditions without playing it (canonically it made no sense, but story was sacrificed to money).
