Alien: Isolation Will Have a Sequel

Alien: Isolation announces that the sequel is in development. Coinciding with the game’s tenth anniversary, Creative Assembly and Sega released a statement confirming that they are working on a second installment.

The Sequel to Alien: Isolation is Official

Universally considered the best game in the Alien franchise, its monumental significance justifies it being discussed a decade later, with even the most recent film in the saga paying homage to it.

However, Alien: Isolation isnโ€™t just in the news because of its anniversary: Sega and Creative Assembly have fulfilled the biggest wish of fans by announcing that it will have a sequel.

Through the gameโ€™s official account on X, Al Hope, Creative Assemblyโ€™s director, issued a statement announcing that the second part is in development.

Hope did not go into detail about possible platforms, game protagonists, or additional information, but urged everyone to stay tuned for future updates.

A Highly Anticipated Sequel

The creative director’s message also elaborated on the game’s objective of reproducing the terrifying atmosphere of the original 1979 film.

โ€œItโ€™s been incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years,โ€ he said. โ€œYour enthusiasm, courage (and screams) in the face of cinemaโ€™s greatest killer have been the best possible reward.โ€

Of course, Creative Assembly also expressed their gratitude: โ€œThis was a dream project created by a talented team, and the reception youโ€™ve given the game is extraordinary. Once again, thank you.โ€

The arrival of Alien: Isolation 2 is also great news for the British studio after the layoffs and the sense of failure caused by the cancellation of Hyenas, their cooperative shooter that was supposed to be released in 2023.

Hyenas was going to be a space pirate game with 3v3 matches, borrowing gameplay elements from games like Apex Legends, Destiny, or PUBG.

A development full of complications and the unpromising nature of the betas led Sega to cancel the project, although it was still a financial blow to the company.

It’s great news that Creative Assembly is aiming high again with Alien: Isolation 2. Until then, we can get a taste of things to come with Alien Rogue Incursion, the promising xenomorph foray into virtual reality.
