The second expansion of Alan Wake 2, called The Lake House, will go on sale on Tuesday, October 22, and itโs an adventure starring Agent Estevez, more focused on survival horror with connections to Control.
Alan Wake 2 The Lake House
During the Xbox Partner Preview, the release date for The Lake House, the second expansion of the acclaimed horror game Alan Wake 2, was announced. Additionally, a new trailer was shown, giving us a glimpse of this new story.
Second Expansion
In this expansion, players will take on the role of FBC agent Estevez, who explores a research facility located at Cauldron Lake. This additional content delves deeper into the connection with Remedy’s universe, introducing more horror elements and ties to the game Control.
While Alan Wake 2 is a self-contained story, the expansions offer new perspectives. According to narrative director Clay Murphy, the story of The Lake House occurs parallel to the early events of the main protagonist, Saga, in Alan Wake 2.
This change in focus allows the team to explore new genres, and this time, The Lake House leans heavily into survival horror.
This content not only expands Alan Wake‘s story but also deepens the connection with the Control universe by introducing Kiran Estevez as an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC).
The expansion also connects with other characters from Control, suggesting a deeper link to that saga, though the exact details have yet to be revealed.
In terms of gameplay, The Lake House introduces a new type of enemy, “The Painted,” which uses paint as a tool to stalk the player. Estevez, as a new playable character, has access to FBC weapons designed to combat paranormal threats.
Unlike the Night Springs expansion, this mission follows a more traditional survival horror structure, with an open world full of secrets and enemies.
