A new update for Alan Wake 2 is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing various changes and fixesโbut no performance improvements for the PS5 Pro.
Alan Wake 2 Patch 1.2.5
Remedy Entertainment is thriving in the gaming industry. In its latest financial report, the studio revealed a 128.6% increase in revenue. It also confirmed that Alan Wake 2 has already recouped most of its development and marketing costs, with 1.8 million copies sold.
The survival horror title has received two expansionsโNight Springs and The Lake Houseโand a technical update optimized for the PS5 Pro. However, this optimization falls short of expectations.
While the game boasts spectacular technical details (not always noticeable on all screens), its performance on the PS5 Pro has been underwhelming, leaving players eager for a proper solution.
Remedy confirmed on social media that the latest patch does not improve PS5 Pro performance. They also shared full patch notes and addressed player concerns:
“The PlayStation 5 (1.200.005) update does not include anything specific for the PS5 Pro, but we want to acknowledge that we are listening to your feedback. We are still investigating performance improvements for the Pro.
We will keep you updated. Since PS5 Pro support has been a months-long effort, implementing changes and improvements will take more time than just a few weeks. Thank you for your understanding.”
Patch 1.2.5 Notes
Improvements
- The Lake House: Collectibles have been added to Sagaโs Mind Place when playing the expansion as part of the main campaign.
- Night Springs: The Night Springs theme is now available in the Writerโs Room after completing any chapter of the expansion in the main campaign.
- Enemies labeled as “throwers” are less frustrating: they move less frequently and take longer to teleport after being damaged.
- Motion Controls: Gyroscope controls and stick interactions have been improved. The maximum sensitivity in the options menu has been increased from 4x to 20x (ideal for those with a surgeonโs precision).
Fixes
- PS5 Pro: Fixed missing LSAO Performance data. Shadows no longer vanish when switching from Quality to Performance mode.
- Night Springs: Resolved an issue where a Night Springs episode was unavailable after loading a nearby save.
- Deluxe Edition: Alan’s hair becomes more disheveled when wet, and his wedding ring now appears while wearing the classic outfit.
- Final Draft: Fixed missing photos of Alice and a manuscript page in Return 6.
- Fixed map markers that persisted post-interaction.
- Fixed an unopenable Sheriffโs Cache in Initiation 5.
- Addressed inaccessible Pat Maine radio broadcasts.
- Corrected a manuscript page in Return 1 missing from the Mind Place.
- Fixed a key item in Return 3 that could be picked up too early, causing a softlock.
- Resolved objectives like “Investigate the previously flooded area” that didnโt clear properly.
- Fixed Scratch getting stuck behind the microphone stand in Return 08.
- Improved localization across various languages.
- Minor fixes and stability improvements.
