Alan Wake has gotten delayed by 10 days to make room for the busy month’s releases. Now closer to a Halloween release.
Alan Wake 2 Devs Delay Launch, Now Closer to Halloween
Halloween is getting some spooky horror games, and the month is getting quite busy. To avoid clashes with launches, developer Remedy Entertainment has now pushed the horror sequel Alan Wake 2 to October 27th. This is just ten days after its originally announced release date of October 17th.
An update from the Alan Wake 2 team: we're moving Alan Wake 2's launch from October 17 to October 27.

October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games.

In case you missed it, Alan Wake 2 will continue the mysteries of Bright Falls. Wake isn’t doing too good as he is trapped in the Dark Place. Armed with only his typewriter to try to write his way out. A new protagonist joins the sequel FBI agent Saga Anderson who is led to Bright Falls surrounding Wake’s disappearance. We’ll also be seeing more of survival horror sequel during Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live according to Geoff Keighley.
Good news for new players as you don’t have to play through the prequel if you don’t wish to (or don’t have the time with so many great releases this summer!) The developers have made the game welcoming for those stepping into Bright Falls for the first time. But it will still offer a challenge and of course easter eggs from the first game.
While we’ll have to wait a little longer for its launch, I’m not complaining as October is already offering a plethora of titles. Hopefully, by then, we’ll have had our fill in September of Starfield, Baldur’s Gate 3 (on PS5), Lies of P, Spider-Man 2 as well as Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, phew!
Games this October
Looking at the release lineup for October we’re going to be spoiled for choice. Not only do we have the best looking soulslike to date Lords of the Fallen to die, die and die again to, but a whole flurry of releases. Another RPG to have your eye on is the turn-based tactical RPG The Lamplighters League. Alan Wake 2 is now launching toward the end of the month. But there is also the occult horror Alone in the Dark to look forward to. If action is more your style Assassin’s Creed Mirage is arriving slightly earlier than planned now at the beginning of the month.
If spooky games are on your agenda you can dive into the Backrooms Break, which takes the internet cult psychological horror to new levels offering a VR mode as well as a standard non-VR experience. World of Horror the retro-inspired RPG will be leaving from Early Access in all its Junji Ito-inspired pixel glory. If murder is more your game, Agatha Cristie’s Murder on the Orient Express will surely scratch that detective itch, as you solve the mystery on the rails (or maybe going off the rails?).
What will you be playing this spooky season? Will Alan Wake 2 tempt you to Bright Falls? Or will you be fighting the biggest boss of them all your already stacked backlog? Let us know in the comments below.
