Tyranny’s Final Developer Diary Video Digs Into the Game’s Gameplay & Mechanics

The final video developer diary for Tyranny has been released by Paradox Interactive and Obsidian Entertainment, ahead of the game’s release next Thursday, November 10th on PC. This video digs into the meat of the game, specifically companions, mechanics and gameplay.

In this final episode, gamers will see how the many design elements of Tyranny come into play – from the companions to spell creation, reputation, combat, and beyond. The video shows all of these systems in action, and will prepare players to experience the game itself when it launches next week on Thursday, November 10, 2016.

Companions are pulled from the different Factions in the game and are used to explore the differences between the world’s groups. Each companion has their own motivation which may or may not be compatible with your own and they play combat roles with combo abilities.

Spell creation will allow players to customize and improve the properties of the spells they use as the game progresses by adding items called Sigils. Players can change their effects, range and nature, all to suit their approach to combat.

The game features a classless system that is skill based. The more you use a specific skill, the more you will grow in that discipline which tailors the game to your playstyle. The skill system also applies to dialogue choice you will have as the game’s dynamic story evolves.

Reputation is another element woven in to the game and affects the entire world around you. Every choice you make affects how people and factions react to you, and whether you inspire love or hate, new abilities become available to you by increasing reputation in either direction.

Overall, the video is a great primer for anyone interested in this follow up to Pillars of Eternity that explores the consequences in a world where evil has won. With less than a week to go, the anticipation is building and we’re looking forward to seeing everything the game has in store for us.
